Will someone please help me identify this Ibanez? Although it looks like satan's soup warmed over, it plays beautifully, sounds wounderfully rich and has amazing sustain. I love the guitar but it's kind of like marrying an orphan with amnesia. Can anyone help? (SN-G826083 stamped, Similar to a Musician but the horns are pointy enough to do surgery, original sick-yellow paint.) Somone has swapped the Suregrip knobs for generics! Have you tried the Duo Sound yet? |

Yep, the DuoSound is a pretty cool feature but you're right about the replaced knobs... they seat too low to activate the push switch. As for changing them, What I would like to do is refinish the guitar in black and replace the knobs with solid metal, knurled knobs like on my Ibanez SoundGear SR300DX bass. I'm just not sure I want to refinish the guitar since I don't want to destroy its vintage value if it has any. I recently traded some other gear for this instrument at a local Mom & Pop shop, so I have no idea what its value-historically or monitarily-might be. What would you do? |

I like the color myself. Its Pearl White, I have a prototype in this color that was made in 1982 also. It has some of the features yours has. Check it out here... http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/discus/messages/14/6411.html?1082999958 |

1talltexan: Although Polar White is not my favorite color, I'd keep it as original as possible. I'd also invest in getting the correct knobs. The way things are going with Japanese made Ibanez, it should be appreciating in value. Permanently monkeying with it will drastically reduce it's future value. |

I agree with protecting its future value (assuming it will have any... I don't even know what its worth right now. Any guesses?) Either way, I need to find someplace to refinish the gold-tone hardware or find replacements to purchase. Any ideas where to go? |

You can buy a new bridge and Pickup covers but cannot replace the tailpiece or tuners with original ones.. I would personally have all the items replated.. I have had success having them replated. But some of the hardware will need to be disassembled though.. |
