Is it what he says it is? Is it worth more than a minty STUDIO? Do the electronics look original? Is this headstock shape normal? Isn't this a ridiculously high price? Ginger |

I am not anywhere near an expert on these things, but a quick glance at the Ibanezrules catalog for 1981 reveals a different headstock design for the Artist. http://www.ibanezrules.com/catalogs/us/1981/p04.jp g I didn't find a picture of a 1982 model, but I know these guys will chime in with good information soon. |

There were many "mishaps" with those catalogs. Sometimes, a '81 serial has an 80 or 82 guitar, so it might differ. I think the price is pretty outrageous and I almost fell asleep reading his mumbo jumbo. I rather read a full transcription of Star Trek technobabble.. |

Ginger, to answer your questions briefly: Yes (except for the maple center block) I don't think so (depends on the ST-Model, though) Yes Yes definitely YES! Juergen |

The wood is very much like my mahogany ST50, except for the symmetry of the body and the headstock. So I was think the value is perhaps about 50 dollars higher. Pity we have no 1982 price list available. Ibanezrules jumps from 1980 to 1984 and what comes closest is the 1980 AR50 BK (listed $375). I'm glad to see that we're on one line here, Jürgen Ginger |

Didn't we give someone crap about selling one of these too high in price about a year or two ago? He changed his price to a more reasonable one after the ribbing he took. |

There's a lot of info already posted on the AR30. Do a search on AR30. Yeah, the seller's price is WAY high. I couldn't make it thru all the description. |

this model has been debated over and over in this forum, just search AR30 and you can find a TON of info on it. Ths seller, while quite verbose, knows absolutely NOTHING about this guitar ! He keeps raving about the fact that the guitar is worth so much to him, yet he misses the very fact that -in Ibanez Vintage Terms-its actually a pretty RARE guitar ! He doesn't even bother to do the research, yet he posts a really ridiculous BIN price.....its really silly ! Under normal circumstances, you can snag one of these for less than $400 and they are very cool guitars ! |

Dave: Aren't these pretty much a Studio in an Artist's clothing? It may be an economy-budget AR, but it appeals to me. (So do the better Studios.) Betcha it would look neat in natural. |

John, I have always been a fan of the AR30 (I now own 8 of them), Not only for the rarity, but the simplicity of design is appealing to me. These guitars are light and really WAIL...I don't think the studios are made of the same wood (Japanese Ash) , aren't the Studios (at least the ST50/55/70 Mohagany ? |

I never thought I would be quoting a cartoon figure, but those are the kindest words I can use here to describe this Auctioneer. "What a maroon!" - Bugs Bunny. Well, the item didn't sell. No big surprise to anyone but the seller. I'll bet the "seller" just thought we all couldn't appreciate it as much as he apparently does. |

He relisted it and dropped the BIN $200. Still $1,000.00 is unrealistic. Ebay Item #140101081789 |

It's down to $699.99 now. Minus the OSHC is about $600.- for the guitar. Mmmm... perhaps he has a chance to sell it now, but this is the absolute MAX IMHO. Ginger |

I think it is a very nice $350 guitar with case and that this seller is way too optimistic on his price ! (remember each unsuccessful auction cost the buyer like $6....) |

Well, you never get what you don't ask for. He asked for it and found someone who was willing to pay. I wonder if the buyer is an ICW member? |

Somehow I think there is more to this than that John. The "winner" is a music store that basically sells on ebay with only a couple of purchases. All of a sudden this store has a hankering for an overpriced Ibanez ? Got immediate feedback from the seller too ! Call me the devils advocate, but EBay just never works that way, buyers and seller have patterns to their activities........then again, mabey this buyer just had a need for an incredibly overpriced guitar......ya just never know |
