I've owned some vintage Ibanez guitars, but am looking to buy a newer model. I'm looking at an S1220 with the walnut finish and an RGT42fm. What are these guys worth. Both are in very good condition. I'm leaning toward the RGT because of the neck thru. Thanks.

I'm a big fan of '90s MIJ models. Some people say the pre-90 guitars are better, but the newer ones usually have less issues. The craftsmanship is good on the new ones, but I think the timbre quality may be declining.

I often see S Prestige models listed for around $1000 on eBay, but they usually don't sell. I bought by S1520 for $550 or $600 if I remember correctly. I'll be selling it if you're interested.

I'd take S1220 over RGT42's, I love my 1220 so much that I got S1520 as well. If you like RGT gotta go for those RGT prestiges and not the RGT42's but of course 42s are cheaper than the S1220.

You're comparing apples to oranges. Different body materials, different construction, different scale length.

If you like the neck-through construction, check out the new RGT220's.
