540 s question

I just bought an 540s serial # F009815 and was hoping for some info on it. Was it made in 1990? Also, what's the deal with the custom made inlay on the neck. I read somewhere that a U.S. company bought these parts from Ibanez and assembled the in Pennsylvania. It's in amazing shape, It looks as if somebody bought this new and then put it away in the case until now. It a red/orange burst, absolutely beautiful. Thanks for you r help. The "Custom Made" inlay was a common feature for a while, and does not mean that the guitar was actually custom made (go figure). It's a great guitar and a pleasure to play. It's funny, my first guitar was an Ibanez nearly 12 years ago, since then I've owned just about every kind of guitar under the sun. I just sold a Les Paul to fund this purchase. Here I am, right back where I started, With an Ibanez. But after College around '90, I really wanted an S470. My Idols all played them, and they looked so sleek and high-performance. I couldn't afford one, and had to settle for my frankenstrat. Now I guess I'm making up for not being able to afford one back then - I have 4 s series (S1520,SV470,430SII,SC420) , and I think I need a few more (early 470 or 540, SF470, and SA2020). I have an '82 AR100, but the thing is heavy and uncomfortable to me - and I'll be damned if my SC420 doesn't sound better! -Sven
