Hi forum!

My first post here, and it's about my 3rd Ibanez guitar i just bought off ebay. Thought i'd share the details with you, and also see if anyone had any thoughts about it.

I've been using the US catalogs to try identify it, but was unable to find it as it seems to be a hybrid - either a special for the European market, or subsequently modified.

It has all of the basic features of an RX650 including the push/pull tone knob (which only the RX350, RX650, and RX750 have in this range), H-S-H, rosewood board, but is black (not listed as an RX650 colour in the US catalog) and has gold hardware, including the plate with the serial number (5030127, made in Korea).

A very interesting guitar it seems, and at only 115 euros including a case, i think i picked up a little treasure...
Glad to be aboard,
Paul

Hi again!

After reading around here a fair bit, it's struck me that maybe my guitar isn't "collector" enough for the good people round here to help me find out any more about it (that is in no way a bitch, btw)... so just wondered if any of you know any other sources where i could find out more about my particular model? Or i could post a pic, if that would help?
Thanks guys
Paul

Hi Paul,

I really can not tell you anything about your guitar except that I think you got a steal anyhow for that price including case.
More models come by here which are not so "collectable" so I am sure that's not the problem.
Maybe the very helpful guys over here just do not know........

Thanks for writing,
Paul

dont know a thing about the RX models, but i dont really think you got a steal out of that deal. we got to consider European's average guitar prices, and the fact that a case is always about 40 euros on its own.
you won't find nothing decent in Europe at less than 100 euros.

Thanks Nuno,

All i know is that to me, it's definitely more guitar than what i paid for it ;)

"you won't find nothing decent in Europe at less than 100 euros"

Not so sure about that... it depends what you class as "decent" though i guess. The bottom range RX series guitar goes for around 90 euros on ebay, so by my reckoning i havent done too bad.

well, i know the prices in Germany and Italy (where i'm from), and i can tell you that you wont find that guitar for less than 120 euros, case not including. also, your one looks mint condition, so it's more valuable. also, the case looks like an Ibanez originale case, or at least an SBK case, that is alot expensive on its own. anyway, if you rather thinking you got a steal, no problems. :-)

(what about pickups brand logo? IBZ? V1/V2?)

Ciao Nuno,

Maybe we are misundertanding each other... a "steal" means a great bargain. Your latest message sounds like you do indeed think i got good value for money? Yes it is mint, was sold as having "been played only a few times", and i can believe that.

The pickups are Ibanez AH1/AS1/AH1.

It's clearly not a model from the US catalogs. I edited a close-up of the catalog to show which features this "hybrid" is made of... the ones i know nothing about, i havent marked:

> "a steal means a great bargain"

oh, excuse me, i misunderstood completely. yes, meant you got a GREAT deal. congrats!

and yes, hybrid Ibanez models aren't impossible to find, i've found some here & there since i began setting up guitars. i think it's due to an excessive number of production models and all the movements from factory to factory, Japan, Korea, Indonesia etc, it's easy to put together the "wrong" pieces, i guess. or maybe sometimes it happens that some hardware or pickups are missing and they would put what they find in the factory to get the guitars completed? who knows...
surely Mr.Donahue would enlighten this up.

No worries Nuno :-)
I can see how the confusion could happen (i'ma translator, i know all about multi-lingual confusion) ;)

Should i post sth in a separate place and ask Mr Donahue?

OK, here's another quick question for ya Nuno (and anyone else, though you're good to ask due to your european knowledge). I want to eventually save up for an artist or artcore, so might try to sell this one. How much dyou reckon is a good asking price (in euros)? After now finding out it's worth more than what i paid, i don't really want to advertise it for too little...

well, considering its mint conditions and the SBK case, i won't sell it out for less than 250 euros.
