I came across a RoadStar II at the local pawn shopt this week. It's seafoam green, kind of rough shape, with an price of $179. What do you think? |

Sorry, I neglected to mention it's an RS420, I think. Three humbuckers (two appear to be original), serial number that starts with J85... |

I'm guessing that since no one jumped on this message, it's not worth a lot, espeicially with what must be an added route for a middle humbucker. |

O.K., let's start with the serial number: C = March 83 = 1983 1392 = number in the overall production of that year. So, what we need is the catalogue and pricelist of 1983, if we can find them. Now, we have two good options for the catalogues and one for the pricelist, but there might be a problem with the year. I know 1984 is available. Catalogues: FOR THIS ERA there's the German distributor Meinl and IbanezRules (+ a rip site from Russia, which we avoid because they stole everything from everywhere including from our members Harry and Hasy). Pricelists: Ibanezrules So, here we go: http://www.ibanezrules.com/catalogs/us/1983_84/roa dstar2_artist/p06.jpg http://www.ibanezrules.com/catalogs/us/1983_84/roa dstar2_artist/p05.jpg http://www.ibanezrules.com/catalogs/us/1983_84/roa dstar2_artist/p07.jpg http://www.ibanezrules.com/catalogs/us/1983_84/roa dstar2_artist/p14.jpg http://www.ibanezrules.com/catalogs/us/1983_84/roa dstar2_artist/p15.jpg So, we have the possibilities RS125, RS1000 and RS1500. And if we look at the pricelist of 1984 we see that Ibanez added another model with two humbuckers, but not in sunburst. What's interesting, is that these cheaper two humbucker types always have a 2 in the middle: RS125, RS225, so there is some system under the 1000. Anyway, the pricelist 1984: http://www.ibanezrules.com/catalogs/price/1984/ind ex.htm So, which one is it? Please, let us know! Ginger |

Thank You so much...My Roadstar II is a RS1000...and the price in 84 was $565...someone had put a Dimarzio x2n in the bridge position, and a super distortion in the neck position,I tapped the coils, and also put a Bartolini pre-amp in it,with brass nut...It's a "real" screamer..thanks again Randy}}}} |

To bring this back to the origin of the thread, the one I looked at was in a light brown, oddly shaped case. Is that the original case, and if so, is it worth anything? |
