Hi Shred Masters.
I just purchased an 80's Ibanez that I am unsure of what it is. It is RGish. Has an altered s***t shape with an unusual varying thickness to the body(thicker on the treble side thinner on the bass) It has IBZ pick ups 1 Hum 2 Single with on/off switches for each, 1 vol, and 1 tone with a coil tap for the humbucker. 22 fret neck, dots, cosmo black hardware, Edge bridge etc etc.... It has no model number anywhere just Ibanez on the headstock. It is Japanese made. Any ideas of what it is????? Please let me know!!!!! At any rate it totally rocks and was a great deal.

Thanks Ben!!!
Great site. It looks like a 540p Power but it has a tone nob with a push/push coil tap. Same shape, pickups,3 mini switches, has the tremelo stabilizer, it's magenta. Could it be a different year of this model?
Thanks!!!!!!!

Check out my Pro540P...it's magenta, has 3 switches, volume and tone (push/pull)...and the weird stabilizer thing.

I believe mine is an '87

I posted something similiar to this a little while back and what you might have is a Pro Line series. Mine is generally the same setup you have. All but it being a purple color when I got ahold of it. Check out Ben's site under Pro-Line to be sure.

I got a request for info on this guitar:

Plaid

The serial number would indicate an '83. Any idea which Roadstar came with a maple board and "duckbill" headstock in '83?

Or maybe the neck is not the original? It's obviously been repainted to resemble bonny Prince Charlie's kilt. :)

Thanks.

John,

I got an e-mail from this same guy, asking the same question! I didn't get these photos, however.

The body shape is definitely '83-'85 Roadstar. The photo quality (lack of) makes it hard to refine that ID. I believe it's an '83 RS125 that's had the headstock reshaped. Can't tell if it has a pickguard and the controls are hard to make out. The vintage style trem keeps it in the 100 series. The twin humbuckers limit the choices to the RS125.

Cheers
Steve

Steve:

Hmmm, I didn't even consider that the headstock was "chopped". Just thought it was the "duckbill" style.

I'll ask for a close up of the headstock.

Thanks for the info, Mr. Roadstar. :)

I'm starting to like that "Mr. Roadstar" deal! Maybe I need to have you change my moniker...

The "duckbill" or "impaler" headstock wasn't used on the Roadstars until 1987. From '87 on, vitually all the solid bodies used it (RG, Sabre, Radius, Power, JEM, ect...)

Need a better photo that resolves the pickguard issue.

Cheers
Steve
