SURELY DIE HARD IBANEZ USERS KNOW OF THESE THINGS??? WELL, I HAD A BEAUTIFUL ONE I BROKE.... OOPS!! AND WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO FIND A REPLACEMENT!!!! THATS LANDMARK.... OH YEAH AND IM NOT REMARKING ON THE "EL CHEAPOS" WHERE IBANEZ USED ALDER OR BASSWOOD LIKE THE RG OR VAI OR PGM ETC. AND PAINTED THE WOOD... WERE TALKIN MAHOGONY BACK, NECK THRU BIRDSEYE MAPLE AND QUILTED MAPLE ON LEFT AND RIGHT AND ABILONE AND PEARL INLAYS!! WANT TO COMMENT??? WANT TO SELL?? My statements are 100% accurate relating to the ibanez American Master. Perhaps you've never even seen one?.?.?.? None the less, my statement is factual pertaining to this guitar and considering my level of expertise on upper end shred guitars, and the fact that i own it and you dont gives me right of way here, dont you think??.......dream world???? learn to play like me and youll step out of dreamworld into reality. They were the USA Custom, and they were made in Pennsylvania. As far as the 'Master' part goes...? I almost bought one of these guitars. It had a PBC 'tension-free' neck - the headstock wasn't even part of the neck! I guess I should have snapped it up. Damn.   Jimi D Posted on Friday, October 08, 2004 - 11:04 am:    geeze... nuthin' like coming to a forum of "experts" for help only to have some dolt all but call you a liar... well "glenn", just for your info ...the American Master series are in the January 1990 Ibanez catalog... 3 models, the MA2HSH, MA3HH and MA3HSH. The MA2 had an American Basswood body, the MA3s a Mahogany body with a Maple Top. They were all neck-through guitars with Edge trems and DiMarzio pups (PAF Pro & Double Whammy, with a VS1 in the 3 pup models) and were promoted by Reb Beach and Paul Taylor of Winger (this was before Reb got his own signature axe)... So now we know vwall isn't nuts, though I'd hardly call the American Master guitars "the most infamous" of Ibanez guitars (save that for Paul's Iceman or Steve's JEM)   vwall Posted on Friday, October 08, 2004 - 11:04 am:    hey, jimi d..... thanks for the support!!!! one thing though, i can see where some of the jems could come close.... primarily the anniversary one, but i ve have lots of other jems and this is the only one except for my loch ness green one that sounds decent. i find that most jems have a tinny sound to them. as far as the ice man goes ive never played one but ive seen them and am not fond of them.are they really that good????? thanks again and play loud!!!!   Jimi D Posted on Friday, October 08, 2004 - 11:04 am:    hi vwall, the reason I say the american masters can hardly be considered "infamous" is because no one knows about them... The system definitely had its problems (like the adjuster nut, which stripped more often than Gypsy Rose), but from a hardcore collector's point of view, those problems might be considered 'character'...   Mark F. The PBC tension-free necks were ONLY on the USRG line, which consisted of the USRG10, USRG20, and USRG30. The American Master line was a very, very limited line and are next to impossible to find. Some, but not all of the models, had neck-thru bodies which is very rare for an Ibanez. Two American Masters were recently sold on Ibanezrules.com in the used section. The links are still there, with fairly good descriptions and pictures. Also, to get your Ibanez information accurate always check jemsite.com in the specs section for the guitar you are discussing. They have accurate specs for nearly all of the upper-end Ibanez guitars.
