Anyone read Japanese? I'd like to know what they wrote on the back of that neck.

It's also strung for a lefty, but the body is right handed. However, the logo on the head is reversed. Weird. Anyone?

Hi Brent,
I've been staring at this for a while now, this was listed few months ago and no one bid on it and now it looks like a different story. George Johnson is a left guitarist so may be that's why things are reversed?
Anyway the Japanese writing on it is very ruff, talk about bad hand writing... most of them makes no sense to me, and sound like abbreviations. Right below RG550, Sample Hanaoka, Tenjingawa de color – something not sure what that last 2 kanji are(may be it was colored at Tenjingawa, thats a location in Japan), Brand ingod or jingod or something either way makes no sense.. Last 2 lines I can’t make much of it except for MAT100% and does it say NoMIJ?
By the way sorry for bidding on that CA I just couldn't resist it.... -Ko

Thanks Kozyyik! Interesting.

No worries on the CA. Hope you win it. It's probably out of my price range unless everone but me becomes narcoleptic during the last day of the auction.

Ya know, I had no idea Ibanez made a George Johnson model. He and I performed in grade school with his brother (cousin actually) Louis. They had Sears Silvertone guitars and amps. The amps were actually guitar cases with speakers and crappy electronics in them! They were so good together that they played at our 8th grader's talent show even though they were only in the 7th grade at Transfiguration Catholic School in LA!!

George and Louis were something special...even in 1965! After Quincy Jones discovered them in the 70's, the rest was history.

Man, the more I look at that guitar, the more appealing it becomes. Reminds me of a Woodstock Hendrix from Japan.

Kozyyik - let me know how she arrives? I wonder how much work it will take to get her back into shape?
