Hi there everybody. I'm a guitar repair tech in the UK and have a customers UV 777 GR (Loch Ness Green)1991 model in 7 out of 10 condition, with a badly cracked neck (through the nut).
Does anyone have any idea as to it's value, either in undamaged, restored or current condition, as the owner doesn't seem to appreciate how much I suspect it's worth, and seems reluctant to spend the money on a professional repair. Your help would be much appreciated.
Cheers, Mark

Sorry folks - dropped a clanger, it's actually a UV 7 BK and NOT a UV 777 GR.

Hmm... The UV7 is probably worth a 1000 bucks less the neck crack. It's probably a great guitar, and I'm sure it can be repaired. How clean is the break?

Hi Brentm, thanks for the post. It's not a clean break unfortunately - heavily splintered and contaminated. The neck was cracked when he bought it 10 years ago, and it never occured to him to get it fixed. He has continued to play it since. He didn't even ask me to fix the break, just "sort out why it won't stay in tune". As far as he was concerned the break and the tuning problems were entirely unrelated!!
I know I can fix it, but like I mentioned in my first post, the guy seems reluctant to pay for a decent repair.

Ya, I'm sure you explained to him that it would never be stable without a proper repair. Just out of curiosity, what type glue would you use if you repaired it?

Luthiers wood glue - you can get it from Luthiers Mercantile International. Either that or Titebond.
