hello everyone, got a bit of a dilemma, got the opportunity to buy 1 of 3 peaches, sz320, sz520 or a s series, bugger, dont have that model no. with me... what doyou gents think is the better buy, ive had a sz320 and cant complain really, i think the only diff between the 320 and 520 are the finishes and the pups, that doesnt matter either way, i'll prob end up putting other pups anyways. ohh, and the funky inlay on the 520. i got no clue about the s though, this particular s has a floyd rose and ive got no need for that, im edging toward the sz520. please lemme hear your opinions, i got 3 or so weeks to play with this. what would be the better guit thanks guido |

Guido: I'd really like to know the model of the S series before I commit to an opinion. The reason is that the neck profile on the S should be very different than the SZ. Also, are they all brand new, 2005 models? If not, what years? I have a 2004 SZ520 and a 1997 S3040 with the original Wizard neck...totally different shapes. The SZ is much lighter, even though it's a lot thicker. If I could design a new S it would be the S5400 without the floating trem. I'd vote for the thru body strings and bridge from the SZ2020. If that bridge won't work for a string thru body system, then the Gibraltar III would have to do. |

Guido, I think it all depends on the asking price of these guitars. Both the SZ530 & SZ320 can be had very easily and inexpensively. As far as the S, there is a huge range of S series guitars. John, your ideal S sounds a lot like an SC. It doesn't have the through-body strings, but the tone is sweet. The balance, mass and proportions are just about perfect in my book - big tone from a little guitar. The SC1620 is one the finest crafted bolt-on guitars I have seen. In a league of it's own. You should try one. -Sven |

hello all.. thanks for the info.. the s is the s470dxqm 2005 model, both sz guitars are the 2005 models, lemme hit you with the prices because the sz520 and the s470 are almost the same price and theyre all brand new. S470dxqm = $470 usd sz520 = $415 usd sz320 = $360 usd now the s has a lot more features, the wizard neck and the ZR tremolo system being the mor obvious difference. it has two buckers and a single coil, 5 way pick up switch. the buckers are the ibanez infinity 1 and 2, and a single coil infinity. again i've played them all and even with the difference in feel, theyre all guitars i like. thanks in advance |
