Hi everyone! I'm kind of new to ICW so excuse me if this a tired thread. What's with all these people thinking that because they did'nt sell the whole guitar they can take it apart and sell separately??? I HATE THIS!!! Imagine if eBAY had been around in the 60's;what would the vintage strat market be like now??? What's everyone think??} |

Mrmike, Luckily it's mostly the dime a dozen RGs that they're doing this with. But every now and then I do see a prestige that has been parted. It is a bad practice, and I've just come to ignore it. -sven |

Yeah, that bugs me too. There's a couple sellers, one with a little more tact than the other, but they both buy RGs on eBay (and maybe elsewhere) and clean and sell the parts. Probably making a couple extra hundred bucks per guitar parted out. They're obviously filling a need (spare parts). However, it is disheartening to see perfectly good RG guitars end up as parts, even if they a dime a dozen. |

Oh, and I forgot to mention how they keyword spam their parts, so you can't do a search for something without a page or so of parts that aren't stock for the model you're searching for. So ya, they bug the crap out of me too. |

The parts aren't available from Hoshino USA, so there is a market for spares. I see dismembered Roadstars all the time. Steve |

I bought a parted-out Roadstar around 1986, one piece at a time - from the same pawn shop! Me and Johnny Cash... I started with the neck, but it didn't fit the strat I had bought it for. So I went back the next day to buy the rest! Very nice guitar after all, for $50 per half! Peter |

Hang on... it was a Blazer! It still has the strat guts in this picture.

Gee... I wonder how many people got the Johnny Cash reference? "It's a '49, '50, '51, '52..." |

I am glad that at least you did! It cost more than a dime though... Peter |

Gee, I hate to give away my age like that! But I'm a little puzzled. I've looked at the various parts on e-bay, watched them until they finish up, and it looks to me like they're not coming out that far ahead. Am I missing something? I mean, I see RG's as low as $125, but those aren't the ones they're buying and parting out. |
