Hi all,
A friend of mine recently pulled this guitar out from under his bed, where it's been sitting for about a decade.

Ibanez S shape

It's an early 90s, S shape with gold hardware, sharkfin and "custom made" inlays, gloss black finish, and Floyd trem. Any thoughts what exact model it is and what its current value might be? Thanks in advance!

Mark

Guitarseh:

Can you get us the serial number? That will narrow down the year and help identify the model. Also a picture of the headstock, front and back, would be helpful, too.

My guess is that it's a 540SLTD, but I can't find a catalog shot of one with gold hardware, only black.

hey folks,

I got a ibanez artstar AM400 from 1980... nobody seems to know this kind of model! does somebody know something about this guitar? is it an original? how much is it worth? it's semi-electric with just one S-shaped "hole" (I don't know the right expression for that)

Thanks for the quick input! It's in the shop right now, so I don't have the whole serial number, but it started with an "F" and I think the first number was "2", which I guess makes it a 92? Here's the headstock front. I don't have a photo of the back.

Guitarseh:

With that serial number, it should be a '92 540SLTD. But according to the catalog it's not supposed to have gold hardware.

Anybody else got any other ideas?

It was bought in NYC, so maybe it was a limited run for one of the big stores there? Sam Ash or something? Did Ibanez ever do such a thing? Either way, thank you very much for all the info.
