I bought myself a RS1500 '83. It has a Pro Rock'r bridge and a string lock behind the nut that really look original, even the step for the string lock looks machined and original. Could it be possible that the RS1500 was also available with the Pro Rock'r, even if the catalogue says it comes with a Hardrocker Pro?

"step for the string lock" ???

I don't follow. The original string lock used with a ProRock'r requires no routing/maching to install, just 4 screw holes.

Got photos?

You sure it's an '83? It's possible that the Pro Rock'r would just drop in a Hard Rock'r studs and mounting, and possible that the string lock was added. If the hardware is stock, it would make more sense if it were made in late '84.

Steve, you agree?

I haven't seen the serial number, yet.

Only 65 RS1500's were built in 1984. Since the guitar was a 1983 model, logic suggests those 65 units were produced early in the year.

I suspect an owner/dealer installation of the ProRock'r. Note the non-stock pickup as well.

Yes, the pickups are some old Duncans (Hot Stack?), but I understood that they have been replaced at a later age. I am hunting for Super6 pups to get the guitar in original condition.

Seems like I have to believe that the Pro Rockr would've been installed afterwards. Seems strange (why would anyone do that?!), but one never knows. The serial is G8307**.

Should I hunt for a Hardrocker Pro to help me getting the guitar sold?

"Why would anyone do that?"

Just a guess, but perhaps a previous owner wanted a double locking trem. Once the string lock above the nut was installed, a bridge with fine tuners would have been necessary.

"Why would anyone do that?"

Don't look for a logical answer to that question.
Remember, lots of guitars got fitted with Kahlers too
