Freak: I think 2004 or 2005. They didn't make them for very long. Don't you have both the AR2000 & AR3000? Do you still love your AR2000? Did you ever put in taps? mk |

Neither of the 'reissue' AR2000's or AR3000's came with taps...at least the ones that retailed in the USA. But...Ya never know with Ibanez though! |

3000. Yes I still Love it but rarley play it. Recently I decided to start playing it because i can't see leaving it sit in a case all the time. I've seen some Japan issues with tri sound added but no push pull. I'll find the link and post it later on. Its the site that's called My Ar's. |

Ibanezfreak1960, The guitars mentioned above have, as you wrote, tri-sound added. The former one was modified by "Fujigen Custom Shop" in Tokyo, and the latter by a local music shop in Kyushu. Needless to say, the PU's have been modified to fit for the tri-sound. BTW, I renamed "the site that's called My Ar's." It's now "Our AR Guitars." http://www.geocities.jp/ar_lovers_room/ourARs/ourARs.html If I have more spare time, I'd like to include more AR's posted in this forum into the list above. Is that fine with you guys? Or should I ask for the owner's permission before I do so? Let me hear your opinion. |

MK~Yes, I lucked up on both a reissue AR2000 and 3000. I think mine was the very last 3000 sold in the US. A dealer had it in the storage room and forgot about it. Strange but true. Hasenobu~I do not have quality photos like Freak's, but will pull it together for your site. Tim |

Ibanezfreak1960 and Tim, Thank you in advance!! I tried the "SEARCH" on this forum, and found Ibanezfreak1960's AR2000VV. Can I re-use the 4 pictures, one of which shows a guy holding the axe? (That is Ibanezfreak1960 himself, right?) I'd be more than happy if you guys will send me some pictures, your brief impression on the guitar, when you purchsed it, and, if possible, its serial number. Thank you again!! |

Two more things. 1. Re: the addition of tri-sounds. If you have an AR2000 or/and an AR3000, please open the back panel, then you'll find the bottom is a litte deeper in one corner: (I'm talking about the left part of the above picture.) As can be easily imagined, this is where tri-sound switches will be installed. From what I was told, the modification costs about US $120 or so, altogether. 2. One of trivia about the PU ring The PU rings on 2000 and 3000 are, needless to say, made of rosewood. The one for the bridge PU is, however, a 3-ply: something white is there between rosewood. This white piece is maple.<I got this information from HOSHINO, Japan. |

The pots are really smoooothe as Freak states. They have plenty of bass-to-treble range for a nice 'wah' sound as you sweep from 0 to 10. Also, they move with a bit of stiff precision. They 'feel' expensive. They may be small, but I love em'. |

Ok folks: I finally scored by AR3000, serial # F0400183. As I mentioned previously, each of the tone control is a push/pull pot for single vs. double coil. Each pup has a green, white & red wire, along with the ground. The white & green are joined together and then connect to another wire which goes to the tone pot. The red wire is connected to the volume pot and then connected to the tone control. I suspect it's a mod. I'll try to get a look at the back of the pups to see what they look like. mk |

MK~ Congratulations on your AR3000 acquisition. Give us the details of your successful search. I located another one but had to pass. It is on special discounted sale......in the UK! Too bad the exchange rate from Pounds to USDollars is so inflated. Otherwise my AR3000 would have a sister! Fantastic guitars. Maybe someone here will be able to take advantage of this one. http://www.theibanezstore.com/oscommerce/product_info.php?products_id=207 |

It took me 6 months to convince the guy to give it up! He actually had it up for sale at a great price and I jumped on it. At the last minute, he decided to start playing it and couldn't put it down! Sound familiar?? So, he wouldn't let it go. Every month thereafter, I sent him a reminder that I was still interested. Then, out of the blue, he contacted me and said it was mine. I was ecstatic. I was playing it last night. Great guitar. The workmanship is superb. The frets are amazing. Very versatile too, especially with the single coil option. I need to confirm if it still has the original Super 58's. The wiring diagram on the Ibanez site only shows 2 wires and this quitar has 4-wire pups.. Btw...it appears that one can order any part for this guitar from Ibanez. That's one very nice part of owning a newer guitar. mk |

MK my number is F0400117! I just took mine out for a ride the other day which I don't do too often. But I can relate to how great this guitar feels. Mine doesnt have a split coil option. I think yours is a modification. I saw one with tri sounds added on by FujiGen on Hasenobu's our AR's site. Congrats on your score and lets see some pics of her please! |

What's the deal with the serial number? How many of these were made? btw...the single coil settings are NOT noisy like my 2619.....maybe I should redo my 2619 electronics afterall. It looks like the AR3000 control cavity is well shielded. I hope to have pics of this and my several other acquisitions soon... mk |

Not too many of these were made. I don't think the serial number sequence pertains to the build quantity of just the AR series. I believe whatever guitars they made on any given day was serial numbered in order. Paul Specht is the one who gave me the 25 figure that passed through HoshinoUSA so these guitars are rare! |

Funkle~ I view the AR3000 as one of the best Artist 'reissues' made by Ibanez. The AR2000 is more basic than the flashier AR3000, but still a wonderful, fat sounding humbucker guitar. The 3000 improved on the 2000's already great features. It has a bit thicker body that better balances the neck/body on a strap, fancier inlays, and the cloud tailpiece. Some have said that the cloud is part of a sustain block within the body cavity, but I can't say for sure. Also the AR3K has a slightly better/higher grade flame maple top. Otherwise they are pretty similar playing guitars. Both are wonderful instruments in my opinion.

Hi, That AR2000 on ebay is mine. I actually have 2 of them. That is the 1st one I acquired and I swore I'd never part with it. The other one has a gorgeous flame top and still has the plastic on the truss rod & cavity covers. if it doesn't sell I'll probably hang onto it to play and put the minty fresh one away. I would be inclined to move on an AR3000 also if I saw a clean one for sale at a fair price. I read somewhere that the AR2000 & 3000 models have push/pull pots but neither of mine do. Keep me in mind if one comes up for sale. Rick |

OK, so here's the deal. My 2004 AR3000 with push/pull coil taps does have Super 58's. I'm still not sure if the guitar came from the factory with the coil taps. Maybe it was a special order? I've been playing this guitar non-stop. I absolutely love it! Of all the Ibanez guitars that I've owned, to me, this one beats them all. It has serious tone. It's extremely versatile with the coil taps. It's not too heavy. Way lighter than my old AR500. The Prestige neck is amazing. And, it's a beautiful guitar. Absolutely stunning. I also love that the coil taps are not noisy. (My 2619 tri-sounds are noisy...) The control cavity has a black coating. Could it be a very effective shield? If my AR3000 had tri-sounds vs. push/pull taps, that would be the icing on the cake! What's also nice is that it's new. It's like buying a new car...everything just works. mk |

Before I shipped the AR3000 with push/pull taps off to its new owner, I took some pictures of the control cavity. I figured it would be good to document this for the group. Observations: - the cavity is sprayed with a black paint-like substance. I assume it's shielding paint and as I've said before, when playing in single coil, this AR3000 is much less noisy than other single coil guitars I own. - the green and white wires are joined and then connected to the tone pot. - the volume pots are 500K mk |
