Hi, After not playing for years, I recently picked up a used rg570. Although it was a bit beat up, it still played fine, which is all I really cared about. The only other guitar ive ever owned was a Fender strat. However its missing the string retainer, that bar that goes behind the locking nut. I wasnt sure if they were the same size as the strat ones like this: http://www.qksrv.net/click-1802666-10381315?loc=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI .dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D7339876902 Anyone have any idea? Unlike locking nuts they dont seem to specify the size of them. Its a 1997 model (serial F9731419) if it matters. I really like the guitar but that neck is thin!! Thanks for your help Dan |

It seems like the part masters (sellers knocking RG 5xx guitars in the head for parts) are taking a vacation. I couldn't find any string retainer bars on eBay, but there are usually at least 2 or three. Give it some time, they'll show up. I doubt that Fender bar would fit properly (or look right either). -Brent |

According to the catalog, the '97 RG570 had a Wizard neck. That would help narrow down the search for the correct retainer bar. You may be able to still get the part from Ibanez. Here's the 2002 parts list for the RG570 Locking nut assembly: http://www.ibanez.com/parts/2002_PARTS/el_guitar/parts/2TL1BR43.html RETAINER BAR 2TL2-7B (BLACK) 2TL2-7C (CHROME) 2TL2-7G (GOLD) 2TL2-7K (COSMO BLACK) 2TL2-7PC (POWDER COSMO) 2TL2-7PN (PEARL NICKEL) SCREW FOR RETAINER BAR 2TL2-8 |
