Hi, recently I started searching infos about my Axstar and found out that I can't find anything about it, except some hints posted here by Jim Donahue. In one of the threads here it says, that there was an Axstar Stratocaster, but no one has ever seen one... I bought it in 1987 or 1988 in a small shop here in Germany as new. They told me that Axstar would be the "cheap" series of Ibanez, like Squier/Fender. I only changed the knobs, which where originally black plastic. Please, whoever has a bit of information on this guitar, please let me know. |

A few Axstar telecasters have also been discussed here. IMHO, these are so extremely rare, I doubt you are going to find anyone else with one. And since you have one, you are the expert! Sorry, but that's what happens when you have something never in a catalogue (no published specs) and super rare. Maybe you could tell us more about it. |

Looks like a Roadstar body with an Axstar neck. Never seen anything like this in a catalog, tho. |

I've seen one like this before. Although the contours are similar to a Roadstar, the pickguard/pickup/bridge combination is unlike any factory Roadstar. Steve |

Thank you for your responses. @Ibnzplyr: Thank you. I don't know if I like the thought of being the expert on this guitar, but if anyone has any questions on it I'll try to answer them I just would really feel better if I knew more about it... @Steve: I agree, the body looks like a roadstar 440, (found it in the 1985 catalogue, http://musik-meinl.t3-kundenserver04.de/t_meinl-uploads/1985_gesamt.pdf) at least it has got it's silhouette. But the Roadstar has shapings on the front and the backside, while my Axstar is simply plane on both sides of the body. Do you remember where you have seen this type of guitar before? |

Forgot to tell more about this guitar: - seems to have a RS-440 body with no shaping on the back or front side (means both sides are completely plain) - 1 humbucker, 2 single-coil-pickups, single-coils have a plastic cover in body colour, humbucker can be switched to single-coil. It has a 5-way switch, 1 volume, 1 tone control (tone control has a switch for changing humbucker to single-coil) - tremolo with string-lock mechanism, but no fine tuners - Ibanez Smooth Tuner II - serial number is "A862209, Made in Japan", there is an Ibanez logo on the plate - as far as I can remember I bought it in 1987 or 1988 in a local music store here in germany and paid about 750,- Mark, which should be about 500 USD today |

Norberick, your pics are very usefull info to a friend of mine, who owns an Axstar 'Crusher' strat, made in Korea. We have been searching for the connection with Ibanez (if there is any), and stumbled across mentionings of an Axstar strat by Ibanez several times on the net, but never before actually could see one, untill yours. Would you please be so kind to upload your photo's to guitardir.com? You'll find pics of the Crusher there, too. I'll ask Peter(owner) for the photo's of his, to publish in this thread then. Kees. |

Hi Dutch, it would be very interesting to know if there is really a link between the crusher and Ibanez. If yes, this would be a very interesting find. Although I think it could be a fake axstar, perhaps some korean company stole the brand name. The logo on the plate is very much different from all other Axstar logos. I'll post my pictures to guitardir as soon as possible. |
