Hi all,

Please excuse my jumping in with a request straight up.
I am hunting a 7vWH jem for my husband as a gift (many brownie points my way, surely??).
I have been reading the other fake threads and have knocked out some of the characteristics as I've gone along.
I can't see anything wrong with this one. Can anyone verify or knock it out for me?
THANKYOU,
Lia

Lia:

Welcome to ICW! I'd say that you are going to get TONS of brownie points with a gift like that! :-)

I don't see anything suspect about it. It has all the right numbers, decals and paperwork with it.

The only thing that I would question is why it has a 2006 serial number and yet they say it's brand new. It's possible to be a really late '06 manufactured guitar that has just made it to the retail chain. But I'd ask for more info just to be on the safe side.

He said that it is his brothers, who is a session muso. Was bought in Sydney, he took off overseas for work and has run out of money. So the story goes. He said the Allans Sydney reciept for purchase is there..

$2226.96 devided by 1.36 = about 1637 euros.
List price is 2730 euros.
Not bad, not bad at all: 59.97% of the list price in mint condition.

Hi Lia,

You sure are a class act buying such a nice guitar for your husband! Maybe you could have a chat to my better half???!!!!!

Anyway, how did you come to settle on this specific guitar? Is your husband an Ibanez fan, or a fan of Steve Vai?

I see you're located in Adelaide's southern suburbs as I am. If your husband is a fan of Ibanez guitars, maybe he and I could catch up sometime. My rock'n'roll band, the 8 Balls also plays down at the Woodcroft Tavern from time to time, so keep an eye on the gig guide. We are next there in July.

Shoot me an email sometime if you wish.

regards,

Mark

No Mark, I'm not that nice. He doesn't have anyone to jam with down here, and he would love that just a little TOO much. :-)
If he gets wind of that, I'll never see him.

I rang Allans and asked them which guitar I could get him, that when he pulled out at a gig, people would go ooooooh. He suggested a few, he doesn't like Gibsons so that narrowed it down.

He also has a jackson electric, a maton custom acoustic, a spanish classical thing and some vintage thing from the 70's which is a hollow bodied electric I think its a mentone? Or something like that, turns out maton made it way back, not many of them.

So he is a LITTLE into his music. And good at it. Which I'm supportive of, but I would like a husband who sees other things other than music, and that's never going to happen!

This guitar is a treat. We have some money coming our way soon, so he chose that for his treat and I chose a new computer.

Hello and Welcome Lia~ You sound so much like my own better half. She doesn't know all of the guitar things I have stashed in closets, but she is very supportive of my 'habit'. BUT if it takes me away from my household duties or attention to her, bad things happen.

That was a very nice guitar you scored. Hope he enjoys it for a very long time. And maybe he will check in here and give us his review of it.

Tim

Thanks Tim. He probably won't be able to for a while, until the drool dries up.

So we are thinking it is genuine?

"So we are thinking it is genuine?"

Since the auction represented itself to have all of the 'case candy' documentation associated with a NEW instrument, you or your husband should have no problem getting a verification from Hoshino/Ibanez. As Johns stated previously, it does appear to be a legit instrument.

Check the serial number and contact Hoshino/Ibanez at their website. You can also request verification from Ibanez's official forum.

http://www.ibanez.com/forum/

I checked the Ibanez website and interestingly enough, they referred to the Ibanez Collectors World to assist with identity of older models. However, it's the new models that are more difficult in some instances due to the current rise in fakes around the world. You should be fine since you will get the paperwork along with that beautiful JEM.
