Wow, we made it to Part 5. Is there a six pack in the future? Just a reminder, this series of threads is provided for the discussion of Roadstar series models. Nobody will go to jail for drifting off-topic. However, the bear might growl at you... Steve |

RS135, AKA "Comet Series". These were covered in the "Untold Story". They were available in an array of colors with matching headstocks. I seem to remember Steve posting scans of these in another thread. js |

No it belongs to a friend. He bought it in the 80s for cheap and still has it in nice condition. Hardly plays it but won't sell it. He said someday when he tires of it he'll give it to me for free. |

Jeffsailor is correct. There were 4 colors; Blue, Green, Red, and Yellow. All had white pickguards. The RS135 was also available in black and white. These were not part of the "Comet Series" and had natural headstocks. If Johns ever gets the Roadstar data on-line, these threads may become obsolete! Steve |

There is no direct replacement that I am aware of. At the very least, you will have to have the stud mounts relocated. Steve |

Hey i just bought the above Roadstar RS1000. was that a good deal you think? i have never played this specific model but i have a RG440 and it plays great and sounds pretty darn good as well. could probably use a better ( OFR) trem. So what do you guys think of these RS1000's? will i be pleasantly surprised? you think it will sound better than my RG440? i have wanted one of these for a while now. Roadstars are really underatted guitars especially for the money. |

No, I do not have both. I have never owned an RS1000. " i think that the RS1000 should be much better in terms of quality and tone than the RG440. " That would be entirely dependent on your personal preference. The Bear |

I have a few Roadstar questions: First off, I'm a new Roadstar owner, having just received my RS440 yesterday. I saw it on Ebay, and was compelled to bid on it. The guy selling it was upfront about it being a bit beat up, and missing a tremolo bar and 2 fine-tuner screws ("should be able to find at a good music store or on Ebay" - right!), and missing the tremolo and jack covers. He didn't mention that the pickguard was warped in about 3 places, or that the guitar had evidently been played on the beach (a lot of corroded screws and - I'm not kidding - fine white sand under the pickguard). My questions are: 1) where can I find fine-tuner screws for this Prorock'r bridge? 2) where can I find a jack cover? and 3) do you think I could "unwarp" the pickguard by gently heating it with a heat gun? I've noticed that the replacement tremolo arms from Guitar Center are a lot cheaper than the NIP arms on Ebay. I'm assuming the GC arms are brass, and the others are hardened steel? (Okay, technically that's a 4th question.) Lastly, thanks to those who've made this wonderful resource for these neat guitars. |

Well, I've found that the hex-head screws from the cylinder head of a Magnum XL .61 radio controlled airplane engine work for the fine tuners. :-) The screw heads are a lot smaller, though, and may require turning with a hex wrench. I'm going to experiment with other thumbscrews for things like computer cases, etc. I may try some Kahler fine tuner screws, if I can find some cheap enough. Haven't had a chance to try unwarping the pickguard yet. I'll let you know what I find out. I figured I'd try the heat gun, maybe try to iron it with a clothes iron, and/or maybe just heat it up in the oven and then press it flat with something heavy. I figure, the pickguard is messed up already, the worst I can do is to ruin it completely, in which case the choice to buy a new one is pretty easy. Are there any resources to buy parts for older Ibanez guitars? -pmonkey |

Unless you happen upon a dealer with some left over stock, you'll probably not find new replacement parts for your Roadstar. However, I dug through my stack of pickguards and found one for an RS440. E-mail me : ) The Bear |

This ad smells bad to me. It's an RS1000 for those not yet in-the-know. The RS1010SL has some different features (like COLOR): http://www.qksrv.net/click-1802666-10381315?loc=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI .dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D320028743493 Is it ignorance? Laziness? Or is the seller trying to hype his guitar. The Bear |

"fine white sand under the pickguard" I don't think it is sand. Usually the flour is to prevent humidity from building up. It is also found in the holes made for tuning machines. "where can I find fine-tuner screws for this Prorock'r bridge?" I have six black ones for sale. If You mean the ~1" long screws at the back of the bridge that adjust the intonation. Contact me at aki dot rintamaki at gmail dot com. "do you think I could "unwarp" the pickguard by gently heating it with a heat gun?" I don't think so. The surface will boil or get dark long before the whole pickguard will bend. I'd try leavnig a disassembled pickguard under very heavy weight for a week or so. An oven could be good. |

I bought this guitar in Europe around 86/87. I'm puzzled by what it is!? Rg140 sticker on back of Axstar neck, Strat body with 2 single and 1 hambucker p/u's. Serial# A862304 MIJ. Came in original factory box brand new, so it was built this way by Ibanez. Can anybody help identifying, and or info on this instrument? Thanks |

In my continued search for a replacement bridge for my husband's 1985 RS440, I came across an English Shop on Ebay.co.uk that is selling a replacement tremolo arm that they are advertising as fitting the 80's ibanez guitars. Since this part seems to be wanted by many who post here, I thought I'd pass along the item number. If anyone does have a replacement bridge (Pro Rock R) for me, please shoot me an email at karen.bonvalot@bipc.com Ebay Item #3764937293 |

I placed a link to an ebay auction on ICW yesterday, but the so-called "original arm" was threaded and didn't even have nylon bushings. So that guy was talking from the back of his neck. Ebay Item #130090451567 The price for the arm you saw at Music Outlet Shop is way too high. Actually they are in Cologne, Germany and they sell in England, because the parts are scarce there and they can ask more money. 25 pounds or $48,56 is WAY OVERPRICED! Besides, it's not even complete: it's missing the black plastic tip. For the time being I would recommend to buy an Edge tremolo arm for $14.- I read that it will be very tight, but it will work. Please read the "Help settle a debate about trems" thread in Captain Ibanez - Defender of Truth. I'm using a Pro Rock'R arm in my Edge tremolo from a 90's clearance, which is a little loose, but it works. The seller of my guitar promised me a new black edge arm, he had to order, but I didn't visit his shop for a few years now. I wonder, if the part is still there. Perhaps I should give him a call before I make the drive. Ginger |

Hi everyone.. I'm new here, and have a problem with mine rs1000 Pro rocker bridge is not good for me anymore, and strings are begining to break during gigs, so i'm trying to make a change, maybe buying floyd rose or sth... Becasue of pro rocker is little bit larger than floyd, do you have any suggestions about this topic (where can i but parts for that kind of tremoloes)? I wouldn't like to destroy the guitar, so i'm posting here... Sory for my english, Im writing from Croatia, Europe. Thanks in advance Stjepan |

First, if your guitar is an RS1000, it should have a Hardrocker pro, not the Prorock'r. Second, parts for these old bridges are very rare. Third, there is no direct replacement for either of these Ibanez bridges. If you wish to install a Floyd Rose, the studs must be relocated. The Bear |

hi... continuing this roadstars tremolo replacement (i know is an old issue but only found questions not answers), I have an 83 RS315MS with a mint Hard Rocker bridge. I set it as no floating and works pretty fine, but i`m using this guitar in plenty of gigs (has a very nice sound) and want a better bridge (with replacement parts) for it (in case of damage). i saw many bridges that may work, specially some wrap around bridges (http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailpieces/El ectric_guitar,_non-trem_bridges/Adjustable_Wraparo und_Bridge.html) that look like pretty much as the Short Stop bridge in the RS1400 on the 83/84 catalog, or in the 96 Satriani. There are even some other bridges that look like it would fit (even knowing some post modify may happen, but i prefer only changing the diameter of the hole and not relocating) 1.- Some one has made any of this changes? 2.- Any one has the exact distance between the hard rocker posts? (many commercial bridges have 82.55mm between them) 3.- Any piezo bridges that may work as well? (this would be the preferred option) thanks to all! |

thanks Mr Roadstar, it seems so, any suggestion for a replacement? i want no tremolo on it, im thinking a wraparound, maybe a tele bridge? another question... how does Ibanez install Fret Wire on the guitars? i readed there are many ways, but fender does it by the side, and i readed is important to affect as less as posible the neck, specially on maple ones, isnt it? thanks for all. javier |

HSS setup with a maple neck and fretboard. There are no serial numbers anywhere on the guitar. /image{smallfrontview} More photos are here: http://www.dboyds.com/guitars/ I've never seen another and have been down every alley on the web.
