Thanks to the hard work of our own Mr_Roadstar (aka "the bear" ), the definitive guide to the Roadstar II series is now available, on ICW! The information and specifications are contained on 4 pages: General Information & Notes Models Colors Specifications The Models page contains two tables, one table lists all the models sorted by the "Model" name and the other table is sorted by the "Year" of manufacture. The Specifications page is also divided into two (large) tables. The 1983-1985 table (top) covers the Roadstar II models named using the "RS" prefix. The 1986-1988 table (bottom) covers the Roadstar II models named using the "RG" prefix. If you have Javascripting enabled in your Web browser, you can also access the Roadstar II pages from the new "ICW Menu" that pops up on the left side of the ICW Home page. If you go to the Home page and don't see the blue ICW menu tab on the left side, hit your browser's Refresh button or even "flush the browser's cache" to allow the new site content to download. As usual, if you have any problems, dash off an email and I'll try to figure it out and fix it. Let me be the first to tell Mr_Roadstar how much I appreciate his enormous contribution to documenting this underrated "classic" series of Ibanez guitars. |

Thanx for the effort getting this info posted, John. As with any compilation of data like this, errors may be present. Also some models not available in the USA are not listed. I'll leave it up to John to make updates/corrections as needed. Steve "The Bear" |

I have a simple but nice Roadstar II bass (White Precision model with black pickguard and black headstock), but I don't find any basses in your Definitive Guide on the Roadstar II Series. Are you planning to cover the Roadstar II basses in your Guide as well? Greetz, Ginger Ale |

I have no plans to add a Bass section at this time. There are gaps in my Roadstar Bass literature that would make the project difficult. The Bear |

The combination of a neck from one series and a body from another is not likely to be a factory specimen. The only exception I can think of would be the SB70 (Studio body with a Blazer neck) which was created to use up left-over parts. The Bear |

Bluegitaros: Can't wait to see this new mystery Roadstar/Axstar! Including images with your messages is not hard. Read the FAQ, found here. Follow the detailed instructions on how to include the correct "tag" in your message and how to process your image files to make sure they are approx. 50k in size: http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/FAQMain.html After you've followed the directions, experiment in the Account Holders section until you get it down pat. |

How did you get this guitar? It's not in the catalogue like this. What did you order? Was it what you were expecting? There are some Frankenstein Axstars that do appear to have come right out of the factory. Scott |

I don't get it. You bought a guitar without seeing what it looked like? The first you saw of it was when you opened the box at home? How did you choose this guitar? It's not in a catalogue with an Axstar neck and Roadstar body. When you opened the box, did you consider returning it because it wasn't what you ordered? Or did you pay at the shop and say, "Surprise me; send me whatever you like." By the way, Hungary is such a nice city-- was there a few years ago. Scott |

Scott! To understand you have to consider the circumstances. At that time in communist Hungary, you could not walk into a gov't run music store and just choose an Ibanez or Fender off the wall. This instrument was smuggled into the country by a musician playing abroad (West Germany I think) and at that time he had this one and a Yamaha to choose from. I was 15 at the time (my dad had to flip the bill apprx. $500 at that time) and I like dthe action, color, brand so that's how I aquired it. |

Okay, I see! That's different ! ! ! Thanks for the pics. Your refinish looks very good. I have a few Roadstars and a few Axstars, but my Axstars are the headless Steinberg-like ones. Maybe I should try combining them Congratulations on having a super rare, maybe one-of-a-kind Ibanez. There is also a rare Ibanez Axstar-- with a neck like yours-- with a telecaster-like body. Thanks Scott! I agree, it is probably super rare, for 20years I have not encountered another one like this. The sound is superb, the action's smooth. I will contact Ibanez to see if there's any other info or documentation on this guitar. |

"Was there such a model factory made in 1986?" If it came in a factory box, why did you ask this question? I have no knowledge of the Axstar series. Based on my Roadstar info: - The "RG140" sticker does not apply to that body. - The body is an '85 or earlier RS***. - The pickguard does not fit right. - The Hardrocker Pro was not offered with that body style. Contrary to the common "ooh, it's gotta be a rare prototype" mentality, I would asume it was assembled from pieces outside the Fugi/Ibanez realm. YMMV The Bear |

thanks Mr.Roadstar! I will further explore the story behind this instrument, but believe me : I am the first owner and it DID come in a factory box. What do you mean about the pickguard not fitting right? |

Johns, Can you make the Roadstar pages available from the Forum page? With the current setup, once you're into the Forum there is no access to them. Thanx The Bear |

Apart from the repainting this guitar looks very much like my Axstar stratocaster I posted here some time ago: http://www.ibanezcollectors.com/cgi-bin/discus/dis cus.cgi?pg=next&topic=14&page=1004088 I'm quite sure that this is really a factory sold model by Axstar, although it has never been mentioned in any catalogue. Some time ago I saw another one on ebay, modfied with replacement pickups etc. So there are at least three of this guitars around. |
