Cikasrba: That's a very cool piece of work! What country of origin? The last time I saw a red fretboard was on a German Ibanez model. Is there a serial number? |

Hi! Of course,it is : K854818 (see picture below) I've bought it from a dude who bought it in Germany in 1989 as preowned instrument.I have also an original hard-case too.I supose it's rare piece of Ibanez. But most important: IT SOUNDS AMAZING,MOST POWERFULL NATURAL SOUND I'VE EVER HEARD!!! Thanks a lot!!! |

Welcome Cikasrba, Combining the info of the PR1660PW and the DT250TR I guess one could ALMOST call this a PR1660TR. http://www.t3-kundenserver.de/htmlpages/redasys/_c ore/databases/t_meinl-uploads/1985_gesamt.pdf But there are a few problems, accepting that: - Why do we find an X-series neck on a Pro-Line body? - Who would be so stupid to paint an ebony fretboard red? So it's unlikely that it is a Pro Line when it is indeed all original. If you hadn't made the remark that it is all original there was a possibility, that someone broke the neck of a PR1660 and mounted a (cheaper) DT250TR neck on it. (Next question would be: Is the finish of the body original?) Perhaps an RR250TR with an added top-lock and control-plate? But the colour TR is NOT in the catalogue: http://www.t3-kundenserver.de/htmlpages/redasys/_c ore/databases/t_meinl-uploads/1986_gesamt.pdf Are there traces of other paint in the pickup cavities or near screw holes? Perhaps this all red version of the RR250(?) was made especially for the communist countries like your country was under Tito. Perhaps there are some Eastern European catalogues on that Russian rip-site, but according to Harry there was nothing original: all from Meinl, Ibanezrules and Hasy and Harry. Anyway, it's an X series Rocket Roll model that's not in any western catalogue I know of. So, it looks like you're opening a new unknown world for us, what makes it very interesting. Ginger |

Hi there! Obviously there's a lot of question so I've inspect guitar very carefuly. There are no signs of any paint job on neck or body.Tremolo unit is Pro ROCK'R with Top Lok system(not Powerrocker such it is on RR250)which is mounted on ProLine series. I can't believe that anything was made for eastern market those years, especially not Ibanez! Maybe the answer is in other direction: Maybe it was specially ordered? Or maybe someone at Fujigen made a little experiment? Let's see what Nuno from Ibanez87.it says: "hi Srba, thanks for compliments :-) well i must admit i never seen this guitar, but looking around for info i think it's one of the many "in-between" models Ibanez used to do in the '80s. i call them in-between models because they're unknown models (not in catalogs) made up by a mix of 2 or more known models. in fact, your guitar looks like a mix of a PR1660, as you said, and an RR250 (see attached pic). it's like they put an RR250 neck in a PR1660 body. probably it's an RR350 or 450? who knows... i'll be dropping you a line in case i got some info on that. congrats!" It could be pretty reasonable thinking. Here's additional neck photo Oh I forgot: There are no traces of other paint in the pickup cavities or near screw holes, nore in spring cavity. Thanks for creative ideas |

Hello Cikasrba and Ginger, the years 1985/86 were in the middle of a very experimental phase for Ibanez: just think of the Axstars, the X-ing midi guitar, X-Series DT250TR (with red Fingerboard). Anyhow, I remember having seen quite a few red fingerboards in that period, and had the chance to take some pictures. These were all "specials" for Meinl. I'm almost sure that RR250TR(?) was in that batch too. Greetz, Rob |
