I have been pretty in-active lately but today I decided to look around locally on what is available. I had a seller offering me this and described as an Explorer type as well as a Paul Stanley Model (it definitlely is not). The pictures are not very clear and I attach all of them here. I have very little knowledge of contemporary Ibanez and hope to get some ID on this one. My initial reaction is that this is a fake. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Regards, Meranti |

Thats an interesting one... from the pics, it looks like the paint on the headstock matches the body... I'm curious what it says on the back of the headstock. Also, do you have any better pictures of the tremolo? Does it say "Ibanez" "Hand Crafted" "Japan" on the back? |

Yes the seller confirmed the words "Ibanez Handcrafted Japan" on the neckplate. Unfortunately I have not been able to get any clearer pictures from the seller. I am waiting for further information on the serial number and what is written at the back of the headstock. I still think it is a fake. I have also asked if it is an original Ibanez hardcase. It's sorta creepy... the guitar... the case looks like it's cut to fit, but not a factory cut... I dunno man.. I'd want to see some clearer pictures, especially of the tremolo and behind the neck. I'd say error on the side of caution on this one until you know for sure. |

Guys, that guitar is definitely a fake! The body shape was inspired by the Washburn Paul Stanley Signature Model. There were 3 models and although the entry level model PS100 had a bolt-on neck, the control layout was different and none of them had a Tremolo. So the body is probably homemade. Here's a pic of a Washburn PS500. I once had one of those, very nice guitars! Juergen

Just spoke to the seller on the phone. He said the guitar is extremely heavy which suggest local woods in this part of the world. Therefore points towards a fake. He promised to send more pics to me and will post them when received. Regards, Meranti |

Oh my God! It's even worse than I expected: The curl on the lower horn is pointing outside, like on the Washburn. On the pink hybrid it's pointing inside. On the Ibanez PS series it normally points inside (towards the neck). I think Yogi is absolutely right. This only shows what you can hide under black paint, like a filled hole of the original selector switch on the upper horn (just like the Washburn has) and two filled potmeter holes. If you are really collecting an not looking for some cheap player, stay away from it! and from the rest he's offering! |

Freak thats not a one off. Paul Guilbert has one & a few have been up on Japanese auctions. I think there was a limited run of these (Destroyer / Iceman) hybrids made. |

That I don't know. I believe it was a Japanese only release though. I almost bought the purple one but could not get a hold of my Japanese friend before the auction ended. |
