I bought a used Ibanez and it is great. I was told it is an rg750, but there is nothing that says that so I am wondering how to tell. It has an F2 bridge, C2 middle, and F4 neck pickup. The serial number is F015018, and there is no pickgaurd. Any help would be great as I am curious as to the model. |

Pinkibanez: According to the 1990 US catalog, if it has no pickguard, matching headstock color, rosewood fretboard and sharktooth inlays, then it would be an RG770. |

Thanks Johns. That all matches. What is the difference with a 750 and a 770? Is it just the pickgaurd? |

Pinkibanez: Besides the pickguard, the only other difference I see is the color. A 1990 US RG770 should be either Lazer Blue (LB) or Purple Metallic (PM). Does that sound like your's? For the sake of others who are interested, this model shows how different specs can be depending on the country of import. The RG770 is not shown in the 1990 European catalog I have; the RG750 and RG760 are. There is a difference with the US models: both have 2 F2 and 1 C2 pickups rather than a F4, C2, F2. The RG770 does appear in the 1991 Euro catalog, but it still had 2 F2 and 1 C2 pickups and the color choice was: Black (BK), Grape Ice (GI) or (LB). The 1991 US catalog shows the same color choice for the RG770, but the pickups are F4, C3 and F2. |
