I'm just curious: I used to own an RG (and I SWEAR it said RG570 on the headstock), but it was different than any I've ever seen.

OK, It was candy apple red, matching headstock, but clearcoated Wizard neck w/ dots, Nice Edge type Floyd, no pickguard, and had FACTORY EMG's! Humbucker in the bridge, with 2 single coils, ACTIVE, with a seperate 9V battery compartment in the back. No mismatched paint or evidence of mod's.

I've never seen another one like it, and I (whilst going through a divorce from hell) sold it for like $250! I'm starting to think that was a BIG mistake, and wondering if I can get it back from the guy I sold it to.

Help me out, guys. What the heck is this guitar? and is it worth anything? Is it a rarity, or am I just dumb?

"Is it a rarity, or am I just dumb?"

I think these are two independent theses.

In order to know it's a real rarity or not, we'd need to know more information about production numbers of this active EMG RG570. Fact is that these EMGs and active electronics were NOT standard in the RG570.
The standard version COSTED $999.95 in 1996.
So if you would have sold that one, you should have got at least $500.- for it.

And a special version like this one is probably worth more. Perhaps $600-750

Was your decision to accept $250.- wise?
That depends on the situation. If you're hungry, wood and strings don't help much. Money does.

Is it wise to look back? Does it help? Does it make you feel better? Or shouldn't you just get on with your life, set new goals and wait for an opportunity to catch a bargain yourself?

Well, I got it from a pawn shop for $250, and that's what I sold it for... And yes, it made my car payment & fed me for a week. I guess back then I really never gave much thought to it being that big of a deal. I never though of bolt on neck RG's as anything special, but it was unique. That's why I bought it in the first place. Anyone have production numbers or catalog pic's of these?
