Hello, first of all I'd like to describe my situation. I am stuck in deciding on which guitar to buy, I play alternative with distortion that match the caliber of Weezer, Greenday and Blink 182, but sometimes I need something heavier...and I before I was thinking of the Fender Lone Star Stratocaster, but I don't think that humbucker will handle the heaviness....so I was thinking maybe a RG570.....since it has a singe coil in the middle..maybe it'll be more versatile.....so what do you guys think? RG570 or Fender Lone Star Strat or should I get something totally different?

Man, are you kidding? I own a RG570, that I bought from a friend for $400 in a hardshell case, and I've never been happier with an electric guitar. I can say that because I played a "Strat" for 10 years and could never keep it in tune! I did do the necessary mods on my RG570 to keep things in line. I put "Satch's" pickups in the exact positions and slammed the middle pickup as close as I could the the face os the guitar. Wow, you would not believe the tone from this axe! I have 2 other Ibanez's, and both need the same kind of little "Face-Lift"! (Dimarzio's ya know!) What ever you do, and it's nothing against Fender, but you'll be much happier with the RG if you ever want to really use your trem!

I've had a 570 for about 5 months and it works great. Especially with a Dimarzio PAF Pro in the neck and a Duncan JB in the bridge. Unfortunetely the guitar is really difficult to keep in the tune and the volume and tone knobs are pieces of crap. Aside from these problems the 570 is a really good versatile guitar that is useful especially for playing heavy stuff. The guitar has a solid neck even though it's almost impossibly thin. Just replace the pickups and the guitar should serve your style well.

I have an older RG 570, and it has always been my
favorite guitar (until I cracked the neck...but
thats another story...now "it can't be
played...don't even look at it! LOL)...I agree the
pickups are kinda squirrely I always wanted to
slap some SD's or DiMarzios in it...you can get
any sound with this guitar...mine always stayed in
tune great (even when I BROKE OFF the whammy bar
in a wang frenzy!!!! IT WAS STILL IN TUNE!!) the
Vol .& Tone knobs were great, perfect placement of
the controls, ver comfy to play...I gotta get my
RG570 bad boy fixed one of these days! Cheers.

Hello fellow musicians,
I saw you guys in here chatting in here about the Ibanez RG0-570 guitars and I have to get my two cents in here.I bought my RG-570 in 1992 new for about $500.00.I had to reorder mine because they sent me a blue one and I wanted mine to be black.I had to buy an SKB case,Dunlop straplocks, and Dimarzio PAF Pros and an HS-2 for the middle position pickup(stacked single coil pickup).I sheared off the tone knob at a bar(oops, sorry little buddy!!),broke the upper horn straplock during a gig(talk about being humble),somebody cracked the neck near the headstock(had a great repairman fix that)and it has chips and dings all over that guitar.I have won many a guitar contest with this guitar. The guitar stays in tune really well(you must know how to set up a Floyd Rose type tremolo for it to work properly) and I love the way the basswood body resonates and interacts with my Dimarzio pickups. This is my main axe that I play onstage with my Top 40 band.I have played and owned other axes such as a Fender Strat,a Gibson Paul II,an Ibanez Destroyer II,a Charvel Fusion(American made) and a custom made Strat from parts. My RG-570 is a very versatile instrument.Don't play onstage without it.
Thanks,
George

I'm looking for a little information. I'm thinking of buying an 1987 Rg 570. It is all original except for the pickups. My question is was 87 the first year for the 570 like it was for the 550. Did the 570 come with the wizard neck and edge tremlo. The price is right and the guitar is in good shape. It will make a nice addition to my arsenal. Any info will be helpful.
Thanks

If the pickups have been changed then, plug it into your egsisting rig and let it rock.

Only RG J Customs and Prestige Models are the colletible ones.

Original running gear is V7 S1 V8 pickups and it's a excentric that would change the pickups.

Some even stoop so low as to putting in EMG's

Captain Ibanez :)
