I've seen in a store an J-Custom RGMETAL1. What a beautifull guitar. Can anyone give me more info about it (the story behind it, woods, pickups...). Does anyone knows how this guita compares to the mighty Jem 7VWH? Is this a guitar in the same league? Would it be better to buy the Jem and leave this. I noticed however that the RGMETAL is very similar to the Jem 90HAM in the appearence... Any help would be very welcome. John Diaz |

Interesting, i've never heard of the metal. what was the price? 7v's are 1350 and 90th's are 1600, is it more than that? probably more unique as it must be a J Custom? |

The price was about 2100... the same as the 7VWH here in Portugal.. I've never seen or heard about the Metal too and i didn't find any information on the net. Just a picture in the Jem site (that doesn't make justice to this guitar...really, it is much better in person!!!). From what i saw, it has the Dimarzio pickups (evolutions???) the lo-pro edgr tremolo and Gotoh tuners (verly like the Jem90HAM). |

I don't know much about J Customs, I been told they were only offered for order for 1 year, 98? 97? and were made in very limited quantities. I know the 90th finish can get a little rough on your forearms but play awesome. I wouldn't recomend that finish for a main player. Then again it looks so cool ya might not mind bleedin a little :) I'm sure spec wise it would also play very similar to a JEM, the neck and frets might be a little different, but there are also alot of similarities. I think you should but the one that feels better in your hands, if your buying it to play. |

It sure looks awesome, that metal look... the strange thing is about the store: they aren't an Ibanez dealer and why the hell they have a very limited model in 99´, 2 years after 97 (the date where they were available)? I've never seen the 90HAM live, but from the pictures it seems that the 90HAM has a more "pronunced" and "deep" 3D paint. It seem sto me that the rgmetal is more "soft" in those craters in the finish. |

The RG-Metal was the precursor of the JEM90th. The paint is exactly the same, with the exact same contours. The only differences are the pickups (PAF Pros) and the lack of "JEMities" such as the monkey grip and Lion's Claw. From what I recall, the necks are even the same. d |

I'm about to buy a J Custom Gold but don't know much about the spec. Does anyone out there own one of these guitars. I'm told the pick ups are PAF PRO's and the single is a JEM. What exactly is a Jem single coil ? The body is American Basewood but looks like Ash to me. Colour is translucent gold with matching head stock. No dot inlays except for the twelth fret. Does anyone have a more accurate spec. on this guitar? How many built etc. ? |
