Actually the previous owner told me he sanded off the original finish. I can only assume it was Violin Brown.

I can't believe there's no interest in these guitars. Maybe it's my after shave ?!? Go figure ...

The one on the left may be the best guitar I've ever played !!!

Heartfielder,
I couldn't agree more. I have an AR500 as well. 4 Artists total. I love each and everyone. They are steadily gaining recognition. There is plenty of interest in these guitars, especially here!!! All of us know when one is on the chopping block!
Peace!

Heartfielder, they are indeed excellent guitars and your 2617 is quite a fine specimen.. :-)
The grain is more prominent with that finish..

I am also into the Artists more than any other guitar and have a few, but no AR500 unfortunately. I am wondering how long it will take for the 70's/80's ones to be worth more than a few grand (US) for the very best ones in general? In the meantime, there are still some good deals on these guitars if you spend the time looking and are patient.

Thanks for the props guys ... these guitars are excellent. I own 45 or so guitars and the AR500 is the one I reach for most !!!
