Not too long ago, I got a deal on a used Edge Trem to put into my Lo-TRS II equiped RG470. All that needs to be done to prepare your guitar is to lengthen the trem cavity (This simply allows for the longer Edge unit. More specifially the saddle clamp nuts). You don't necessarily need to seek out a luthier. Just anybody credible with router or Dremel experience. Be prepared though for a possible refinish. You're going to have some bare wood exposed on the inside of the cavity. If you're not prepared to shell out the $300 (or more) for a factory quality refinish, you may just want to touch up the inside with black paint (hell, a paint marker could suffice). It is afterall a not so visible area.

I'm not familiar with the JS series enough to know for sure, but you may be able to get by without any major surgery. When I first installed mine, it was just a direct replacement. I found only that once I tried to do an intonation setting that the cavity was millimeters too short to accomodate the clamping nuts. You may be able to get by as is. It just depends on how far you want to take your project. No matter what, you'll love the new trem! It's amazing!

Good luck,
Kyle

PS I should recommend though, that if you do decide to go all out with a refinish, consider a swirl job. Herc Fede could hook you up with a very unique finish to further personalize your guitar. Check out his site (http://www.fedecustomshop.com). Use your imagination. If nothing on his site catches your eye, suggest a color combination. He's quite flexable. If a solid is all you're after, that can be done as well. Catch him before the end of the year though; he won't be offering his finishes after December 31. }8^)

I fitted a Lo-pro to my PGM30 it was around the stud posts that needed routing as the edge and lo pro go around the stud posts as oposed to the TRSII which just sit against the posts the original edge trem would facilitate me increasing the length or the recess or reducing the length ot the string clamp screws as it is the Original edge which is longer.

This was my experience that's all I'm not flaming anyone.

Just bought a older js-100. What is major diff in tremolo units and electronics? Thanks. This guitar hasn`t arrived yet!! What @ the neck radius,is it the same as 1000?? I`ve heard that the 100 and 1000 are both made and put together the same way, belying the handmade theory of the 1000. Is this true??

Thanks
