Hi. I have a Black Ibanez Saber I purchased in 1988 (serial number A800027) with a recessed dual locking "Edge" locking tremolo (including the spring-loaded stabilizer accessed through the back plate) that has "Licensed Under Floyd Rose Patents" in raised letters on it. All the hardware components (tuners, knobs, pickup assemblies, etc.) are made of black chrome. The guitar has 2 Humbuckers (still own both the originals!!) with "IBZUSA" in white lettering on them. The guitar has only 2 small selector switches: one to select the pickup and the other to coil-split the humbuckers. The tuners have "made in japan" on the back of them, but the bolt-on neck plate only has the serial number (A800027) and "Ibanez" stamped into it. The neck has jumbo frets, dot inlays, and a super-thin profile. Does anybody know what the exact model number of this beast is? I have never seen another like it with only 2 humbuckers: all the others I've seen have had either 2 HB's and 1 SC, or 2 SC's and 1 HB. I know by the serial # that it was produced in 1988, and was the 27th one made, but beyond that, I don't know the exact model number. I can't find any info about it from any net sources, and the store that I bought it from has changed ownership since I bought it, so no help from them. If anyone could please lend me a hand with this one, I'd really appreciate it! Also, anyone know where I could come across a copy (or original) of the 1988 Ibanez catalog? Thanks Much!! Mr. Moon |
