I bought this Artist in Germany as a 1983 AR300 (ser.Nr. J830139), but I am not shure about this (I think the AR300 had a maple top and not a burl mahaghoni top). Someone has replaced the Pickups by EMG Pickups and the guitar sounds like sh... Is there someone outside, who can tell me how I get the guitar back to the orginal specs? How did the electronic work, were there only the Pickupswitch and simple coilsplitting? Thanks for your help! Thomas from Germany

Thomas: What you have is an '83 AR305. The 5 at the end denotes the burl mahogony top. It looks like a beauty, too! The original pickups would be Super 58s, which you can still buy from Ibanez. The 2 mini-switches would each have 3 positions: humbucker, parallel or single coil. Take a look at this page for a wiring diagram: http://www.comcat.com/~alnico5/2619.jpg Several of us have AR305s...we LOVE them! JohnS |
