I went the vintage site, there was very little info. These look like pretty decent strat copies to me, but I dunno I don't have one. I want a good strat copy and I'm tossing around either these or Roadstars. Which would you guys recommend ? I know Roadstars are more prevalent. J |

Smokey, I had a BL500 for a while. Nice player, and sounded great. The finish was less than perfect. I don't like maple fretboards so I sent it down the road. Steve

I was gonna start a new thread for this latest tidbit. Then I started browsing the old stuff and found this one. Notice the above double post by yours truly? But I digress... Found this on eBay. Nothing real exciting, right? Just a 1997 Blazer21. Look close at the photo with the serial number. These suckers were made in Japan? Was I the only one that assumed these were cheap Korean models? Methinks some more research is required. These might be little gems. Cheers Steve |

I have an '81 Blazer BL50, two-HB model with a fixed bridge. The ash body must be the key, but the guitar has an awfully strong and high gain sound with the exposed Super 70's. A Blazer strat would surely be a cool hardcore-Strat.. Might get pretty bright with regular pickups. The later Blazer pictured above obviously doesn't have an ash body, so the sounds can be pretty different. I shortly tried an ash bodied NOS Blazer from the late 90's with a S-S-H pickup configuration, and it felt old. In the most great way, ofcourse! It had some of the magic the old Japan made Ibanezes have. And didn't cost more than 500 eur or so. Blazer might be a bit more Strattish than a Roadstar, which yelds for a more neutral all-around sound. I think. Ofcourse, there are very many different kind of roadstars around, I should know! :o) -Aki. |
