The Ibanez Ghostrider guitars look pretty cool, sorta like a PRS. Some come with P90's too, which is groovy. Anyone here own or try one of these guitars? How did you like it? J |

Smokey, Once again, do a keyword search for "ghostrider". I think you'll find some good info! Steve |

Smokey, I love these guitars. They have the tone of a Les Paul without the mud on the low end. They feel great to me as far as size and shape. Let me know if you run across any of the ones with the P90's. I've got quite a bit of info on them that I can email if you like. Mike K |

I've played with a couple and they're okay - Korean tho' and you can tell. Not exactly Gibson quality, if you know what I'm saying |

Not all are Korean made. Mike K has at least one MIJ, correct Mike? |

I've been doing quite a bit of research and from what I know the majority of them were made in Japan. They are kind of a mystery in terms of finding anyone who really knows anything beyond what is printed in the catalogs. I have 3 and only one of them lists country of origin and that is Korea. It is clearly different, as in the binding is less intricate and the fret inlays use plastic instead of mother of pearl. The back is made of 1/2 flame mahogany the other regular (2 piece)compared to the alder used in the Japanese models which are usually 3 or more pieces. For what it is worth the best sounding one I have is a 5 piece back, so go figure. The tone of the Korean is very close and I like it. The pickups are slightly different in appearance but they sound very close to the others. As far as not up to Gibson quality, I've seen some pretty crappy Les Pauls. The ones I call Japanese I would take over a Les Paul any day but that's just my taste. I'm a Strat lover and play at home now, my wife and kids won't let me out anymore. These guitars can provide Les Paul tone with the feel of a strat, if you play sitting down you know that there is a big difference. |

Mike, The first letter of the serial number denotes the factory: F = Fuji Gen Gakki - Japan H = Teradda - Japan I = Iida - Japan C = Cort - Korea P = “ “ - Korea S = Samick - Korea And yes, for those in doubt, I have obtained this info from reliable sources. And yes, Ibanez has used all of these factories at one time or another. Cheers Steve |

Steve, Wow! That means all of my ghost riders are Korean. I wonder now if there are any Japanese ones at all? The nicer ones are both "S" models. This makes me want to look closer at the Samick line because I really like these guitars. Thanks for the info but you kind of burst my bubble. Mike |

Steve, are you saying that none were made in Japan? I am regarding your last post. |

It would seem so. Unless somebody steps up with a Japan built (F, H, or I, serial number) Ghostrider! Cheers Steve |

I track these all the time on ebay. The Korean models w/p90's go for 275.00-350.00 I'm pretty sure the early ones ARE Japanese and those are 4-500.00. Anyone ever see any that are'nt sunburst or black???? |

I had a sunburst Japanese one and it was a SUPERB guitar! I was gigging a lot at the time and at my wits' end trying to find a guitar that was versatile i.e. gave me a few different sounds and stayed in tune all night at a gig...my local guitar shop had had it in the window and couldn't move it - they knocked £200 off the price to get it out of the shop!!! Lots of pangs of regret that I sold it on ebay but I needed the cash at the time... |

Funkle, I would be very sceptical about Japan-made Ghostriders,I have a feeling that all production GR:s are Korean-made C or S -Cort or Samick, 1994-1996. Three models 520,320 and 220. The body was Hoshino USA designed, and proto (made for Shawn Lane, I suppose) was called Voodoo Cowboy..1992. Very nicey "small guitars", although the heel of the neck is a little bit too "boxy" to my taste. |

Wish I hadn't sold mine now, I didn't keep a note of the serial number so I've no way of saying for sure... |
