I have asked many people how many of those black 3 hum, block inlay, gold hardware etc Collen models where made, but no one can give me a "sure" answer. I have heard 1000, 400, 100. As a collector of these Collen model guitar, I would love to know. I have 3 myself and would love to have more. Feel free to check out my site. Thanks! Brooks: I can't tell you anything about the production numbers on the Phil Collen models. But I can say that your site is VERY cool! Neat guitars and fantastic pictures. BTW, how long was Phil an Ibanez endorser? |

Hey Thanks! Hummmm I would guess 3-4 years. Used them thru Pyromania, then changed to Jackson in Hysteria. Pyro was 83-84 and he had some before he joined Def Leppard, I think. Brooks |

Yes, Phil used Destroyers before he joined Def Leppard. There is an Ibanez magazine ad from the early 80's which shows him in a band called "Girl" playing a standard looking Candy apple red model with 2 pickups. The ad also shows Dave Murry and Adrian Smith playing Destroyers. This ad had to be around 81-83 because Smith did not use Destroyers on Iron Maiden's 1984 "Powerslave" album. At least not that I'm aware of. I got into Destroyers because of Smith in Maiden. Brooks, email me at jtfogbank@aol.com and leave me your fax number and I can fax a copy to you, along with an ad of Phil playing specifically his model too. |

I wasn't sure if he had the black 3 hum model in Girl or not. |
