There were two kinds made the ultra expensive one wit the EMG pickups and the sharp edged body (RBM400) which they then dropped for Ibanez Pu's IBZ SB1(s)x2 and IBZ HB2(H)the body was mahogany neck 1 Pc bolivian rosewood and clay dot position markers the fretboard was also bolivian rosewood and it had a gold lo-pro edge trem and then there was the less expensive ones RBM10 which were blue or red in the advert but in the 1995 catalogue the only other colours are black or SOL the black one had a mahogany body the Sol has a Cedar body and the 1 Pc maple neck and rosewood fretboard and lo TRSII trem and had ibanez pickups IBZSB10(s) x2 and IBZHB10(H) and the body had slightly rounder edges. They also had black headstocks the RBM400 had a natural finish headstock. They were not that popular and I'don't think they are still being made. I thought they were kind of cool at the time but I don't imagine they will be worth a lot now. P p.p. They were made in the mid 90's 93'95 I think. |

There were four models of Voyagers. The RBM1 and RBM 2 were the original Japanese models. The RBM2 is by far the most rare - it's the one with the Koa body and EMG's - and sells for a decent price (saw a couple go on eBay over the last 3 months or so for $800+ each). The RBM1 (like mine) is also an excellent guitar and blue books at $600 or so, but who knows what the market will pay. Both were made for 3-4 years('91 to '94). The RBM10 and RBM400 were later Korean iterations ('94-'96), about on par with an RG450. You'd be doing well to get $350 for either, though the RBM400 is certainly the superior guitar, with pickups like the original RBM1. |

My '94 RBM-10, serial # C 443713 (don't know if I can call it a Voyager) has a natural finish mahogany body (I suppose) that looks very much like the original Koa one, and a 22 fret maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and round clay dot markers. Factory specs describe its electronics as two black Ibanez single coil SB10 pickups (they look like those twin Blade minihumbuckers) on the neck and middle positions and an Ibanez HB10 humbucker on the bridge; it's got a floating Ibanez Lo-Pro trem. Its gold hardare sets off the natural wood finishes (all around, except for the black headstock) very well, and the guitar, although made in Korea at the Cort factory, plays at least as well as my '88 Saber 540. The main reason I bought it is because I thought it was a steal and probably underpriced down here in Mexico at the $ 348 USD I paid for it brand new (with fairly crummy gig bag). I'm really curious to compare its sound with one of the expensive ones, but I'm almost sure it could probably be the only one around here. I guess it is very unhip for it to have been designed by the late Winger's virtuoso shredder Reb Beach, but that's fashion and trends for you. It is still a better guitar than I am a player, for that matter. Óscar S. |

I have a RBM1 for sale, and as an amateur player cannot identify the wood in the neck, body, or fretboard, though it looks like the dots are mother of pearl. Can anyone help me out? the Fretboard is a dark possibly reddish wood (Bolivian Rosewood?) and the body is apparantly not Koa since it is not a RBM2 (is it mahogany then?). Anyways, thanks everyone! |

RBM 1s have maple necks, rosewood fretboards, mahogany bodies... Bolivian rosewood? on a production guitar in 1992? Don' tink so - try Indian. They're perfectly nice upscale RG-style guitars, but there's nothing particularly exceptional about them except the styling - the materials used were common enough. |

I have been trying to find this extremely rare Reb Beach Ibanez for quite a while. I have pictures of it, but I can't remember where I got them. Reb said he didn't like it, but I say the harder it is to make it sound good, the more of a challenge you have! Somebody at his message board told me it was called the WRB-3. It is gorgeous, outrageous, colorful and pointy! The graphics on the paint job are indescribeable other than that they resemble a stylized extreme close-up of part of the Winger logo. This doesn't have an exotic wood top, or that big cutaway under the bridge. It looks like a Strat that someone took two opposite corners of and stretched. There is more stuff on the bridge than there is under the hood of my car!!! Without a doubt, it is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I wouldn't even have to play it, I'd just keep it in a glass case and drool at it!!! |

Here is the URL for a tiny picture: http://www.guitarplace.com/VI151.html I might add that this guitar was made before the 90's. Also check www.rebbeach.com for the newest Shur models! |

It may not have been a production model.I have never seen one,not even in a catalog.Possibly a Reb idea that never made it to the public, just his personal collection.I could be completely wrong because I don't have some of the late 80's catalogs but it seems that if they were out there at least a few would have poped up on ebay in the last couple of years. There were 100 made, and they were all made in Japan. 3 were made for Reb, the rest were sold to the public. I'll probably never find one. How much you think Ibanez would charge to reproduce me a neck and body like that? |

Do you happen to know if they were for the Japan market only? They have a lot of models we don't in the US.That would explain not seeing it here in catalogs.Plus only 100 made, that is a rare item. Not enough to really be consistant in the resale market.Good luck |

I'll add something just for fun: "It looked like a Gibson Explorer got drunk and did a B.C. Rich Warlock." I'll try and ask Reb, but he's on tour with Whitesnake right now. |
