I have a new (used) RG170 that has a very annoying electric buzz to it. Not a fret buzz, but a "hum" that is electrical in nature. It is the same no matter what position the pickup selector switch is in. It's worse if I touch the strings, but better if I touch the output jack. Any ideas for a cure? |

Sounds like the + and - are backwards on the output jack? mk |

Possible. Looks like it has been repaired. The internal wire of the coax should be connected to the part that contacts the tip of the plug, right? |

Exactly right, other Michael (my name, too!). It looks like the jack had been replaced, and the wires were connected incorrectly. Switched them around, and a big difference! No wonder I got it for such a bargain... |
