Here are some pictures of Maniac Mike's AR1500. This model was featured in the '83-'84 Roadstar II / Artist catalog. Here are some of the details that set this model apart from the AR300. For one, there is the lack of tri-sound switching. Other than that, the hardware is the same. The neck is 3 pieces: maple/mahogany/maple; rather than the all-maple, 3 piece, of the AR300. There's also the "Custom Made" fret marker and the ornate headstock treatment. The catalog says: "Each of these models are skillfully crafted by hand, one at a time, using only the finest grades of wood available." The picture in the catalog looks like a 1-piece maple top; no flames, just a conservative flowing grain. Mike: Tell us more about this beauty. Was this the '83-'84 equivalent of today's Prestige series? How does it compare to the AR300? |
