Hello,I have a rare Ibanez custom shop. This axe I purchased from Reb Beach, this was the fourth one they made him(all prototypes except the rg560's)It has a mahogany back a flame koa top,pau-ferro neck and gold hardware, its serial no. is LA5290,that is the date of the guitar. It was made by luthier Mace Baily.I also have factory voyagers as well,an RBM1 and RBM2,this one is shaped the same but thats were the similarity ends.this is as heavy as my les pauls are,Ibanez used this axe for promo adds as well, the pick guard is actually taped on and the template markings are on the back of it.This guitar is striking, and Reb used it on stage and in the studio as well as two of wingers videos,(miles away and down Incognito)and was one of his favorites,he hated to part with it,but he was having some finacial trouble at the time,he only has one left(the first one they built him).I would like to get an appraisel on its value,I have somewhat of an idea but still I think another oppinion would help as well.........thanx |

Signature axes usually fare as well as the star they were made for. RBM2's are still desirable even though Reb hasn't been in the spotlight for some time. Generally $1200 for a mint one. Figuring it's original ownership and American heritage, I'd double what the RBM2 is worth and value it around $2400. This is what it would be worth to a hardcore RB fan, if you can still find any :) |

My guitar is a RG550 made in 1987,it was painted by Pamelina in 1989.The artwork consists of some clouds hear the left horn,if strings are facing you, where a lightning bolt erupts, goes through the pickups, and erupts on the right side of the bridge near the knobs where it flares out.It has 2 single coils and one Bill Lawrence twin blade humbucker.Floyd Rose edge tremolo.White metal knobs.Gotoh tuners.Rosewood fret board,I'm not sure what you call the back of the neck but it's a lighter wood. The guitar is in excellent shape with a few SMALL nicks/SLIGHT indentions around the cord plug in.So what is the value? |

Mike: Mr Roadstar usually has lots of info on RGs from the 80s. But I don't see him responding. Maybe he took off on vacation and forgot to tell us. I'd suggest asking over on www.jemsite.com. JohnS ICW |

He he he... No vacation for me! Actually, I didn't respond simply because I really don't know that much about the '87 models ( still missing that year's catalog ). However, if I can see a photo of it, I can probably ID it. The Hum/Single/Single pickup config rules out an RG550 (Hum/Sing/Hum). An RG560 had the Hum/Sing/Sing config, but wasn't available in '87. Does it have a pickguard? What's the body shape? Sharp corners, or radiused? Flat top, or arched? Again, tough to nail these suckers down without a photo! Cheers Steve |

This is the serial number F 749094.It is a H/S/S configuration.I just play guitar,I don't know much about the terminology about them.So if you asked if it was a flat or arched top do you mean that an arched top has contours cut into the wood? If so that's what it has.I'm not sure about "sharp corners or radiused" It has no pickguard. Here is a website with a guitar that looks just like mine, the serial number is similiar too. www.members.aol.com/fastmerc/rg-560cg.htm The only difference is the paint job and the humbucker. |

What do the pickups say on them? Are they IBZ USA? What are the fret inlays like? Dots? |

Yes the inlays are dots, the single coils I've never checked.I just assumed they are factory standard. The Humbucker I checked and that said Bill Lawrence. |

if it is a 560, the stock pickups would probably be v2, s1, s1) appareantly the v2 has been switched for a bill lawrence.. the 560 is in my opinion a great guitar. i have one myself, with a custom shop dual rail in the neck pos. and a dimarzio super distortion in the bridge position and it plays and sounds like a dream... |

Almost left out the previous post ... ( my first post makes more sense if you read the second one first ... I am new to this site ) Ok first off... I bought an ibanez usa s series guitar at a guitar show, it has an iridescent purple finish and has an H S S config. The pickups in it are in this order from bridge to neck ... Ibz usa F2, Ibz usa C2, Ibz usa C2. The guitar also has almond shaped inlays instead of the typical type found in most s series I have seen and has an inlay in the 21st fret that says "custom made." There are also 3 knobs instead of two knobs like most s series have, and it has a 3 way toggle switch for the pickup selector instead of the typical 5 way. The guitar has a rosewood fretboard and 22 frets. The serial number is F200327. ( now read my previous post and you will get what I accidentally posted before hand that was supposed to be in the next sentence ) What can you guys tell me about this guitar ? |

Midnight blue, what you have there is a 1992 japanese s 540 that was originally sold in the states (it says bensalem PA on the neck but that means nothing) Purely Japanese.. Ibanez did not make a USA S series... But pics could verify that it was a one off for the show... |
