Need an ID for my Ibanez RG. Please c...

Author Message   Dave Williams Posted on Friday, October 08, 2004 - 11:04 am:    Hi, I have recently bought an Ibanez RG 2nd hand from a shop, and am not sure which model it is and when it was made. In the shop it said it was an RG 450, but I am not sure wether this is correct. I would also like to know when it was made if that's possible. The specs of the guitar are as follows: RG Body - a speckely metallic dark blue colour (I don't know the name for this colour), Dark-Blue Perloid Pickguard, (Maple?) Neck with (Rosewood fingerboard?), 24 frets and dot inlays, Black Headstock with A Silver Reflective Ibanez Logo, H/S/H pickups with no name or markings on, 5-way selector switch, 1 volume & 1 tone contols, LO-TRSII double-locking Tremolo and Locking Nut, Black Chrome Hardware, Serial Number F0021870, Made In Japan. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone does know anything about this guitar, I would be interested to know where you got your information from. Thanks In Advance Dave Williams   vwall Posted on Friday, October 08, 2004 - 11:04 am:    Hey Dave, the guitar you're describing seems to be an RG550 or RG560 model. Take the neck off and there should be a stamp of the model number on the neck heel. The serial # indicates it's likely a 1990 model made in Japan. It could be a 1990 or a 2000. The 1990 570 had a matching colored headstock and V1, S1, V2 pickups. The 2000 570 had a black headstock and V7, S1, V8 pickups. The color of the guitar (PN-Purple Neon) and the matching headstock also indicate 1990. The 2000-2002 R570s have different pickups (V7, V8 and S2) and black headstocks. I`ve used to think that older Ibanez are better than new. So it is cool ;) Alas cannot read what pickups are there on it.. ps can this rule with PU be used with 550`s ? (see another topic with 550)
