I have an RX352 12-string. I love the 12-string sound, and love the feel of the neck. Either the bridge-tailpiece is off, or the neck is off. They are not in line just right. Any suggestions? Also, any suggestions on pickup upgrade? Thanks in advance. NOGIN |

NOGIN, Alas, the curse of the Korean-built Ibanez! Quality control is sometimes not the best. Anyway, there are two ways to realign the bridge and neck, depending on the nature of the problem. Are the strings not aligned with the pickup poles? Are the strings not centered on the fret board? Or both? As for pickups... It's gonna be hit and miss with a 12-string. My experience had shown that generally you wanna stay away from anything with a high output. (Although I'm gonna try a V1/V2 set in my next 12-String) Ibanez Super58's (stock in the AR112 Artist 12-string), sound great. Seymour Duncan 59's would probably work well, as would DiMarzio PAF Classics. Cheers Steve |

The strings are not aligned with the polepieces, and not centered on the fretboard. |

Hmm... Sounds like the neck is not purpendicular to the centerline of the body. Okay, the right way to fix it: Remove neck Plug screw holes in neck Redrill holes Install neck The quick fix: Loosen neck screws (loosen/remove strings first) Slide a paper shim between side of neck pocket and neck. Tighten screws Tune-up and check alignment In your case, it sounds like the bridge is also off-center. There is no easy way to correct that. It involves plugging and redrilling the bridge mounting screw holes. I'd take it to a good tech/luthier for an estimate/analysis. Cheers Steve |
