I just think it's so ugly it's cool. It's called the Jet King.

All the usual also but these caught my attention first.I was there while the new order was being placed so lets see what happens.I did get screwed out of the Destroyer reissue but second times a charm.I want to check out the Baritone and the Jet King. They just seem interesting.

Chris:

The Jet King reminds me of the Brian May guitar. I can't tell, is that a set neck or bolt-on?

What makes a guitar a "baritone"?

Duct tape? Hmmm. Interesting.

Just picked up the new catalog today at lunch. The Jet King looks interesting, but there's really no info on it in the catalog, is there? I mean, they don't even tell us what kind of wood that is on the body. Looks kinda like koa.

Talk about ugly, though, what is that TM71 (not picktured above)?? Looks like it has an abmormal growth. I've already started calling it "Igor".

I still love the John Scofield model (I'm a sucker for the classics). Saw one in the store - a bit over $1900 new for that one. Ouch !

John,
"A 28" scale barritone neck offers the ability to achieve all kinds of low tunings."It's mahogany and a thru-neck so it should sustain well also.Basicly the're set up for lower tuning and heavier strings without getting sloppy.I can't remember who but I remember someone in the jazz field used to run A-A and B-B instead of the traditional E-E.
As for the Jet King, like Craigjc said, they don't give any info but it is a bolt on.I was told the retail $399 so figure $300 and ones yours.I hope to have a spec sheet tonight. They were still unpacking.I grabbed the only catalog they had out yet.I don't know why but I think I have to have one.Classic cheese with a modern edge.I just hope it's not a let down when it comes in.It reminds me of one of those 60's Japanese deals.
That TM71 is a little funky. They get rid of the Talman but the ghost of it's shape just keeps coming back in strange ways.I love seeing all the Bigsbys again.

The Jet King looks very low end '60s, like one of the cheap imports of the era, especially the pickguard. To make it even more so they could have done something different with the pickup covers instead of going for the standard covered humbucker look.

Nice to see Ibanez are still experimenting, but they all have that home made on a CNC machine look to me.

Are these made in Japan or Korea?

yuk, i think i'll stick to my beloved RG's!

not really my taste.

by the way, i am in a position to buy a Les Paul copy from ibanez (black) for a very low price (i'm guessing something like 80 euro's)

is this guitar any good?.. i think it's from the 70ies, but i'm not shure..

i have played all of the above guitars and they all feel pretty comfortable.. My only gripe is the reissue of the talman with only the duct tape finish.. It does look horrible!!! What a pity they didnt introduce the full talman line again, must say, they have one of the best necks Ibanez has to offer.. My favourite of the lot is the SZ520 and 2nd comes the AXS32 .Very nice guitars with a pickup swap out they would make the perfect workhorse guitars..
