Hi,
I have an Ibanez ue-405 rack. It features compression, analog delay, stereo chorus and a parametric eq.
The delay is really nice. Very warm. The chorus is a bit mild in my opinion (mind you I'm comparing it with a Roland/Boss ce-1 chorus ensemble!). As for the compression, I haven't tried it in guitar yet - but for synths, which is what I'm using the thing for at the moment, it doesn't seem to do anything. I'm not sure if that's cause it's broken, or if it's the nature of using compression on synths. Can anyone shed any light on this?
Overall, the effects maybe a bit muddy. The chorus and delay when played together seem a bit indistinct. Maybe I'm being a little to fussy though. I'm thinking of getting a ue-400 also.

I just got a nice condition UE405 through Harmony Central's classifieds (they're pretty good, but exercise proper precautions) for $185, shipped. I run it through the parallel FX loop of my Bogner Ecstasy, and it is so smooth and warm. It's also transparent to the signal - no change in tone whether plugged in, in use, or unplugged. Righteous! The comp/limiter is great for squashing peaky arpeggiated stuff, the stereo chorus is glassy and swirly without being syrupy, the para EQ is good for adding low-end meat, and the analog delay is just enough to add some breath without sounding gritty or harsh. I suggest you try one soon. They can be picked up cheap if you are willing to look(and wait). |

Very interesting. Are the effects from the 808 series as one of the sellers claims? That'd be a steal - 4 effects for less than the price of a tube screamer.

Well, I've had my UE400 for a few months now, and I can say that it is an exceptional piece. The overdrive is the selling point, as it is the circuit in the TS-808, which is about $400 right now (for a fuzz box?). Really. The other effects are excellent. The compressor, phaser, and chorus/flanger are all quite respectable. It was $125. |

I just got a UE 303B - $121 shipped. Auto filter, compressor, and stereo chorus. Since the auto filter and chorus go for about $175 & $80 respectively, I think I got a good deal. The auto filter is especially cool. |

hi there! I have an Ibanex UE400 and a UE405 but I'm missing the foot controller for the 405, can anyone help me please? I want to rack them both up and use 'em live but I'm stuck until I find another footswitch!! A switch for a 400 would do as they're cross compatible. Cheers!! Mike |
