I recently have been looking at new WAHs, even though the one I have, an Original Cry Baby, is just fine. I thought it might be a good idea not to limit myself to one kind of WAH. I have been looking at Morely's lately, and so far I like what I see. Does anyone have a suggestion before I go out and start test driving some new WAHs? Thanks.

Right now I have a Cry Baby GBC-95 (like most of the world, I guess).

Around '77 I bought a Vol/Wah combo pedal by Mutron. You could activate either effect or combine the 2. The pedal had a large footprint and was very stable to lean on for long solos. The actuators for each effect were buttons on the front corners. (I hate pushing down and forward to kick in the Cry Baby.)

I don't have any idea what the circuitry was, but this puppy had a magic sound and feel that I have not been able to find since.

I ended up selling it to a friend because it developed a squeak when you moved the pedal up and down. Truly annoying. But it's the "missing sound" I'm stilling trying to recapture.

I found something on the web called the BuddaWah (or BhuddaWah, maybe?) Sounded interesting, but it wasn't cheap and I didn't feel like spending money on something I couldn't try out first.

I know this probably doesn't help you at all. But I couldn't resist the wave of nostalgia. J

The Steve Vai Morley wah is a nice one... because of the switchless feature. I personnaly love it for that and for its buffer that keeps level straight and don't suck tone as much as other wah... I'll be trying an Ibanez WH-10 in a few days so my thoughts might change about the greatest wah out there... but I really like switchless for sparking up phrases in a lead... I'm getting the WH-10 for the collection and for a locked tonal wah sound, wich I can't do with the vai model... (leaving the wah at one sweet spot for a specific tone). Try as many as you can!

I do agree, the Ibanez WH-10 is a fine piece of gear. It's a shame they're pretty rare.
