So you got your own money back, Tristan. But you wrote about VAT etc and then it was shipped to Europe. Are you going to make it your hobby to pay the "World Travel" cost of Japanese guitars? Or wil you one day settle down with "the love of your life"? Because this was a VERY short afair. Ginger |

Hey mate, why are you trying to tease me like that? I sold my AS200 and than I saw this, while I thought it would be nice to save some money, but I decided that it is definatly not enough. I'm practically playing only straight ahead jazz. I sometimes go to jam sessions where they play funk and stuff, I have a strat for that. I paid including VAT and shipping about 740EUR. So, it's a really great instrument (as I said earlier and I stand behind it, better than how my AS200 was) but at the point as I'm not a collector, it's not for me, I have no reason to keep it when I want to play another instrument. |

Tristan, I had an amount of 860 in mind, but that was in dollars, so you made a profit. I wasn't trying to tease you, I was even referring to a future "Love of you life", a full acoustic jazz box. I would have kept it. But I have quite a harem... As long as you don't lose money on your transactions, you're not doing so bad at all. Ginger |

Yes guess so.. I have an Epiphone Broadway that my brother doesn't play so it's okay for me for a while, it's actually not bad at all.. spruce tops sound pretty good but they don't come up often, except the GB which doesn't really fits my style.. I'll wait for it, either until I found a real bargain or until I found exactly what I'm looking for... |

I saw a second hand blond Broadway in a nearby shop a few years ago. It was only €500.- but I didn't have the feel of my laminated Aria L-1000/PE-180 neck. And on naturals the scarf headstock joint is so obvious. Keep looking and be patient! Ginger |

I was watching it as i'm searching for such a guitar and was really surprised it went so high. I nearly got this one, some days ago : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1 &item=270085375327&ssPageName=STRK:MEDW:IT&ih=017 and even with shipping and VAT, it was far less expensive ! So what is the right price ? Do you think a 950 euros AS 180 is still a good deal, when you can have a T185 or T186 Eastman, for example, shipped from US for nearly the same price. I'd really appreciate your opinion, as i'm really hesitating. Apart the player aspect, do you think an AS 180 is yet a collector, as older Ibanez ? Regards |

I saw it, I knew Tristan was selling, so I kept silent, just to see what happens if we don't mention it on ICW. $560.- was way too low for a $1399.99 guitar. Normally you should calculate 50-66.67% of the original list price of a young second hand guitar. So if you calculate an average of 60% that would be $840.- Ginger |

Yes, I saw it too, and I was really surprised. by the way, what's the going prices in your opinion for a PE-180 in a nice condition (not minty) on ebay or europe? |

Sometimes they go suprisingly low, because there's not such a hype about Aria guitars. I know of an PE-180 sold for €1250.- in Holland a few years ago (not through eBay). I just saw another one mentioned on Harmony Central, bought for €1100.- . But you never know what happens in an auction. The right description of this guitar is actually Super V copy: half Super400 (neck and headstock) and half L-5CES (body and hardware). Ginger |
