Guy's,

I thinking about changing the pups in my AF105. I am looking to get a little more rounder, fuller, darker sound. Bob Devos sound comes to mind...

Any suggestions out there in helping me get this sound out of my AF105?

Bump...

I am looking for somebody to help suggest an alternative to what came in the AF105 (see above post).

an obvious answer would be the Gibson Classic 57.

Are these going to play a rounder, fuller, darker sound? I am going to play clean Jazz. Have you heard Bob Devos?

I'd say Bob Devos's sound is pretty close to the mainstream jazz guitar sound. Not quite as "bold" as your typical straight ahead sound.
I think that with the classic 57 and the right amp you'd come pretty close.
I put a classic 57 in my jazz guitar and for jazz you can't really go wrong with thatone. All of the Gibson jazz guitars use those as well so there must be something to them...

What pick-ups came in a Super 400? What would be the closet new pick-up being made?

You know what..
I didn't try those but I already think I heard them many times.. just look who uses those Benedetto B or S 6's..
Howard Alden, Jimmy Bruno.. Chris Standring (he's not really a purist but he has a KILLER phat Wes like octave sound)
If I were you I would've given those a try!

have a look yourself.

Tristan, I have not purchased anything yet. I didn't think about Benedetto pick-ups when I asked the question. I'll look into them...

I have a question for those that have changed pick-ups in their guitars...

Am I shooting in the wind for a new sound by changing pickups or is a change going to change the sound on my AF105 significantly?
