Hi everyone, New to the forum. I have an AS100 that, according to the guitar date website, was manufactured in 1979. I purchased it in 1981 to the best of my recollection. I am interested in what the specifications are for my instrument. It would be great if I could get my hands on the typical set of full construction specs but what I am most interested in finding right now is the fingerboard radius. It plays beautifully and sounds great but as I research other guitars on-line, I'd like to know what may come close to what I already have. Does anyone know a resource for this info? Thanks. |

O.K. There you go: http://www.t3-kundenserver.de/htmlpages/redasys/_c ore/databases/t_meinl-uploads/1979_artist_semi_aco ustic_series.pdf Tip: If you find the navigation Adobe Reader 8 inconvenient, like I do, then you could install the freeware Foxit Reader. Ginger |

Well, Gemberbier, the catalogues are there, but no fretboard radiuses mentioned there. I don't think Ibanez changed those for these models but I may be wrong. Did not compare in detail, but my AS-models are all the same if I ask my fingers. But still don't know a figure, although much higher than many Fender. Maybe 12" or 15"? :-J |

Thank you Gemberbier and Molemi both for your responses. Wow, that pdf file really took me back. Molemei, yes these radius specs and such seem fairly hard to come buy for these older Ibanez guitars. Thanks for your sense of it. I thought that 12" or 15" would be kind of high for that era of guitar . . . but I know current Strats and Teles are in the 9.5 range. At any rate far be it from me to argue with your feel! If anyone does know the precise radius I'd appreciate the info. Thanks. |

Aloha Mondobondo, I'm not trying to steal your thread but I've had the same problem. I'm trying to find the radius for my 205s and 255s. I want to have a warmoth neck made for a project I'm working on but other than scale and nut width I've come up blank. If someone has the answer to Mondobondo's question and can squeeze in mine that would be great. Mahalo, Evan |

Why don't you go to a music store and compare your AS100 with AS103, JSM100, and other current models. If you find a match you will find precice specs on the net (ibanez.com, ibanez.co.jp). Juha |

There is a tool for the measuring of the radius. It can be bought at Stewart MacDonald's http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Fretting_supplies/Meas uring/Radius_Gauges.html I believe I have seen templates of these radius gauges somewhere. So, I'll google some more. This article is also very interesting: http://ratcliffe.co.za/articles/radius.shtml Ginger |

Oh, how stupdid of me. The link is in the same article: http://www.kinman.com/html/toneWorkshop/radius.htm So the radius gauge templates are at Kinman's. Ginger |

Molemi: The Kinsman template in the above message is OK, but it's pretty hard to print it and cut it accurately. I made one with a 12" radius and it's pretty hard to tell the difference between 11, 12 and 13 with a piece of flimsy paper. The metal guages from Stew-Mac are the way to get an accurate measurement. Having said all that, I measured my '81 AS200 with my paper tamplate and 12" is pretty close. |

I think you'll find most of the older Artists and the like to be a 305mm radius. That's 12" for us Yanks. You might find some 240mm (9.5") depending on the model. The flatter 400mm (16") radius started showing up in the late '80s on JEM's, RG's and the like. The Bear |
