It seems to be in good shape and all original except for the case. What do you guys think? Any thoughts? I'm a little skeptical of that, but other than that, she looks pretty clean. If you're willing, I'm sure it's a fine guitar and the seller's feedback's good too. I would ask to see the bottoms of the pickups, to make sure the original Super 80's are under there, and not some replacement pup with additional functionality (like a sustainer or something else that ties into the extra knob).   Johns Username: Johns Registered: 2-2001 Posted on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 - 4:55 pm:    The fact that the seller doesn't mention the non-original, non reversible knob or it's functionality makes me leery. In fact I e-mailed the seller several times. First I asked if he had the original pickguard. After not hearing back for over a day, I asked him again. This time he promptly e-mailed back that he didn’t. A few days later I sent him another e-mail asking about the condition of the frets, if everything on the guitar was original, and whether all the electronics were functioning properly (I made specific mention of the coil tap switch, since it often doesn’t work). He e-mailed back that he “believed” everything on the guitar was original. An answer that includes, “I believe” or “I think” is basically worthless. He said that the frets were in great condition. And as far as the electronics, he said everything worked fine but that he would have to ask his “friend” who he’s selling the guitar for about the coil tap switch. This seller has made around 10,000 sales and is obviously a professional seller (nothing wrong with that). But he, like many other professional e-Bay sellers, seems to find it necessary to play this “I’m selling it for a friend” charade instead of just honestly saying that they’re selling it for a client. It’s very weird how they do that. Ridiculous actually. Anyway, about a day later I noticed that extra knob for the first time (so much for his believing that everything on the guitar is original). So I e-mailed him again about this extra knob, and I politely apologized for not noticing it earlier and having to bother him with yet another question. I told him that I believed it was probably a Master Volume that someone had added but could he please ask the owner about it when he asked him about the coil tap switch. Well, I never got an answer back about either one. This guy had 20 other auctions running at the same time, so I understand the difficulty in answering every question that comes his way. But if somebody doesn’t answer valid questions that I have about a guitar, there’s no way I’m going to purchase it or bid on it. I also noticed the blank plate on that one tuner, and the screw hole next to it, but I didn’t even bother asking about that one. He does have very good feedback. And also a 7 day money back return policy, which is great if there are no undisclosed catches. Great guitar, although it'll need a little work done to it to get it better.. especially with intonation near the nut at the G and B strings. I saw how someone on this site had replaced the harmonomatic bridge with a gibralter II and that sounds like a real good idea in regards to look and funtionality. Apparently, mine has been exposed to a little bit of the gas issue from the pickguard that has been mentioned on this board more than a few times, and my bridge is a little green on one side. The case has been affected, too. I'm also thinking of replacing the nut, and setting it up for elevens. I don't know why I'm thinking of doing that, though, because I've never used anything but tens.
