1k shipped. I didn't bid on it, but then emailed him and he agreed to sell it to me for the lowest listing since it didn't sell. I've been searching for one of these for a while, and it's in worse shape than i'd like, but the neck, he said is straight and true and the frets are like new. Should be here tomorrow or Friday. Rick, Congratulations! As long as she plays nicely who cares about a few imperfections? I've never played an AS200 but they are legendary...they sound pretty darn good when Scofield plays 'em. Looking forward to your review and keeping my fingers crossed for you. Having purchased many a guitar off of e-Bay, I know the feeling of not being able to breathe comfortably 'til you unbox the axe. Fortunately, most times everything works out just fine. Darryl |

$1000 ~ 715€ , it is ridiculous price for an AS200 if it is in good playing condition. It seems we can't buy any kind of AS200 for under 1000€ here in Europe. It was as surprising to see that an AM200 didn't go for $1000. Juha |

thanks guys! this will make about the 25th guitar i've bought off of ebay and i've probably sold just as many, so i'm not too nervous the guy had perfect feedback, even gave me his phone number to make sure everything was ok i owned an 81 AS200 a few years ago, but got broke and had to sell, being in good shape and the year it was --same as scofield's--the guitar sold for over 2k that was the best guitar i've ever owned i'll give a full report once it shows up rick |

I don't think $1000 is a ridiculous price for that particular model of the AS200. If it was pre 1981, then maybe you could say it was a great price but it still wouldn't be rediculous price juha. six |

Six, I'm with Juha here. This guitar (NOS) is in the catalogue 2002 of "Musik Produktiv" Germany/Switzerland for EUR 1999.- , so EUR 715.- that's 35.77% of the last list price. That IS ridiculous. EUR 1000.- would be right considering the dings and dongs. In a better shape EUR 1200-1350. Ginger |

You got a great deal. Juha was saying that they can't buy AS200's in Europe for under 1,000 euros, which is something like $1,500 USD, so paying $1,000 shipped was excellent. |

it's insane! just got it case beat up badly, but the guitar is in great shape! the action is WAY too low and i'll have to get that fixed, as it buzzes pretty badly but nothing a good set up won't fix |

Action way too low? Measure the gauges of the strings. If you are planning to use heavier strings, the higher tension will correct the action to some extend. Personally I wouldn't play lower tension than .010"-.042 (I still have a few from Gibson) or .010-.046" on ES-335 clones. If you have developed a certain preference for a gauge, wait with your adjustments until a day after you have installed them, because the neck needs time to react and to come at ease. And that case... Who cares about the case? If it isn't functional in the sense of protection any more, just buy a generic ES-335 case. You made an excellent deal on the guitar. That's what counts. i got it back the neck is straight as arrow and it play great! but it's brighter than the '81 i have even when i adjust the bass and treble along w/ the tone knobs, the ebony board coupled with the maple cap is a tad harsh but maybe some more tweaking and i can dial in the warmth i'm looking for still a great guitar |

The '81 you have or had? Hopefully you can get things dialed and all will be well. I'm confident in your abilities to do so. Ben |

i've decided the guitar is just not me: and i'm selling it it's for sale here and on ebay any reasonable offers will be taken i was expecting it to live up to my '81, but they are very different guitars in both tone and playability |

Funny how opinions vary. I have an 79 AS400, 80 AS200 and an 81 AS50. All have basically same shape neck and play about the same. They smoke any 335 I owned in the past. I play the AS50 most though for some reason (partly cuz I changed to Seymour Duncan pickups...59 and Pearly Gates). It gets 50% of my playing time. |

I have owned half a dozen vintage AS models from 2630 to AS50 to AS200. The very best of the lot was a cherry AS50. But then, lots of people who don't know these fine guitars hold the believe that only the AS200 is worthy of having. |

You're welcome Stacy. It is comforting to know that it's in good hands now that I can hardly play for more than a minute or two at a time. Ace |
