Although the Ibanez logo is missing, I think this lady is worth saving. It seems to need an ebony bridge and a REFRET (and it's a bound fretboard!) according to the seller. It's now stuck at $406.- and still 23 hours to go...

I've got the exact guitar, but branded as "Halifax" instead of Ibanez. It was my first decent guitar, and I'll never part with it.

I am always wary of people who say "from before Ibanez started using headstock logos" since that is just plain false. Hoshino always used "Ibanez" logos on the guitars they branded as Ibanez. I saw this auction and wondered about the headstock too. It sure does look like an Ibanez-style inlay. But DPH makes me think someone wiped the real brand name off this thing to pass it off as "Ibanez". Shame. I'm sure it's a great guitar, but I hate the disinformation.

Here's a tip for any guitars you suspect may have had a decal or painted logo removed. Ultraviolet light. It doesn't always work, but often it will. Depends on some arcane chemistry which I am too dense to understand, but a UV light can be very informative when inspecting old & possibly diddled with guitars.

Maarten, a pupil of Pat (a.k.a. Artfield) bought exact the same guitar, also without a logo, which had been removed... eh... wasn't that the one with the aftermarket Gibson inlay..?
Anyway, he paid $1000.-, which was a steal. It's worth about $1800.-
$636.66 is ridiculously low for this wonderful axe.
It got only 7 bids... unbelievable!
Probably because of the needed refret job on a bound fretboard (normally about EUR 150-250 but with a bound one it's always on the high side of the spectrum).
A new ebony or rosewood bridge is about EUR 15.-

I don't know about that guitar... I thought the real Ibanez L4 copy had ebony fingerboard. It's pretty clear that the one in question has a rosewood fingerboard which is usually found on cheaper guitars. I would've been interested if it was ebony.

I've owned most of the Ibanez Jazz boxes over the years. The 2455 was by far the nicest sounding of them all.

The only ones I missed out on were the 2451/61 and the magnificent looking 2471.

Looks like a 2471 Ginger and it's is very pricey.

I have my Holy Grail Jazzbox. A 54 Epiphone Zephyr Regent. Took me some time to find a nice one though and apparently it was once owned by Duke Robillard.

Well spoted Snowjays,

Yeah he is totally off the mark and it's a 2455 BTW. I sold my one for 600 quid. That's about $1300 AU. Nothing rare about the finish either and it's Spruce not Maple on the top. Best thing about that one is the open book headstock.

And that's an L-4CES NT, NOT an L-5. (Mistake in The Untold Story).
The seller has probably read that the value of the Ibanez "L-5CES NT replica" is worth $2600+ and that the successor of the 2461 has recently passed the $3000.- threshold ($3300.-), he has this guitar and the untold story... pity for him it's still an uncorrected story...
This guitar is worth about $1800.-
Maybe $2200.- if he's very lucky...
