Bolt Neck AS-80 ?

This looks like a reinforcement after a crack repair. The strap button was under that neck plate. It's kept together with Super Glue and a neck plate. Lie and you can sell a heel crack for $371.66 Did you notice the NO PAYPAL remark for the more expensive one? I can't believe that he got so many bidders. And when the buyer gets it, he's discover it has NON-wax-potted SUPER FIFTIES. He won't be pleased, believe me... (Yuck) But I think the 9110004 deserves a good home, and $225 would be a steal for such a guitar with SUPER FIFTY-EIGHTS. Ginger   Loko13 Username: Loko13 Registered: 9-2007 Posted on Friday, October 26, 2007 - 11:03 am:    I've been watching that 1999 AS-80 for about 2 months (as a potential cheap purchase before I bought an '80 AS-50), it's been re-listed at least 4 times; it started with a BIN of $298 and sat w/ no bids for a 6 weeks, then the seller lowered the price to $225; IMHO it's not attracting attention because a) no case or gig bag b) the seller's main biz is not selling musical stuff (though I did check the seller's feedback and they have sold insturments in the past) and c) the photos do suck (what is the red line on the head stock photo ? why the wacked angle shots ?); last week I watched an almost identical AS-80 (it was a 2001, I didn't save the link) with case sell without a buy it now for close to $400; the 2001 had less photos but the photos were nice and showed the entire guitar. For $225, the 1999 is a great deal (I'd buy it for a "beater" if I didn't need the bucks for a new amp...) if it's not beat to crap, but I can't tell from the photos.   Thedude Username: Thedude Registered: 5-2007 Posted on Friday, October 26, 2007 - 11:35 am:    I have a same '94 AS80 (changed the pickups to GFS though) and I'd be willing to bet that awefull looking plate is the result of a botched attempt to redrill a hole for strap locks. Probably drilled to big a hole then drilled another hole and hit the actual seam or tried to force the bigger screw without drilling and created a crack. Either way if I had the guitar I couldn't resist looking under that plate. It sure ruins the aura of an otherwise really pretty guitar.
