I'm looking for an Ibanez Artist Model AM-255. I have one that has suffered a nasty headstock break and I'm looking to replace it with another.

I guess the old case was not doing a good job any more... I took the guitar out for a show the other day and the headstock broke in the case!! Sad day!

If anyone here is selling one please email me the details. Thanks!

Huh? Incredible! Did you drop it or what?
Take it to a good luthier and have it repaired!
Don't throw away any splinters!

No.... The case is old and bends a bit so I think it just never had enough protection... my band is on tour right now so last week I took the guitar out of the case and it had a badly cracked headstock! I guess the Cold Canadian winter and the pressure on the case was enough to crack the headstock. The guitar is repairable.... and I will be getting it fixed as this guitar has a lot of sentimental value to me.... I bought it years ago for $30! The Luthier I use has a few month wait on repairs of this magnitude so I'll need a backup to use in the meantime...... Plus I always wanted a backup to this guitar. It was a rude awakening when I took it out of the case!! I dont even have a good story of how it broke : )

Unbelievable, my AM50C case (sold as an option with all vintage stagemaster models) is from 1983, and it still looks brand new, and I find its support very good.
Is your case the original AM50C with the brown lining and the long neck support?

Anyway, do you use that trem a lot?
If not, you have more options.
The ones we have seen offered lately had Kahler mods and went pretty cheap.

The case is the original case which is very beat up.... I've learned my lesson though.... Always have a good solid case!!

I dont use the trem at all but I think the trem really adds to the tone with these guitars... I used to have an AM-205 the same guitar but with no trem and I found the AM255 to sound way better.

After you have it repaired you could buy an AM100C. They are made for the Artcore AM models but I guess they fit on the old ones too. I've seen them for EUR89.-
Did you receive Michael's mail?

As a Hank Marvin fan I can appreciate vibrato units, but most people hate them on semi-acoustics. It's a problematic piece of hardware and it is in GOLD, that means that when you miss one tiny part you should go looking for another broken vibrato unit and hope that it still has parts you can use. And the owner of that broken tremolo is hoping for the same.
Some desperate owners have replaced it by a Kahler, because they were available in Gold. They were out of business for quite some time, but I saw that they are back. I am very enthusiastic about Kahler, but that is because I have one of the Spyder type. I have seen plenty of cursing dots from Ibanez collectors about these Kahler mods.
I am sure that Kahler could have produced a good vibrato unit specially for Ibanez Artists if they were asked. But that didn't happen. Owners just went to a music store and bought the stuff.

I think the sound differences between your AM-205 and AM-255 were pure coincidence. It just as well could have been the other way 'round.
Plug two identical guitars in a twin jack plug that is in one input of an amp and you will hear differences. It's the winding of the coils, and the pots and the mystic factor "wood" (unmeasurable). One guitar has dead spots and the other hasn't...

Anyway, it seems that Michael has some idea to solve your problem. Perhaps that solution includes a case...
